Qwiss it only stole a 0-0 from us.

That's basically what our games came down to. 0-0 being the baseline and trying to win by 1 goal. I wouldn't say nick a goal because it's not like we are sitting deep not giving anything away and playing on the counter to steal victory, but it's not that far different when our attack is (sterile) possession first and not wanting to lose the ball.

So yeah, we have the majority of the possession but the way we do it is just a different way of playing defensive football.

Gurgen Spot on, up until their goal they had offered nothing and as the game went on we would have been the more likely team to score. Our attacking play wasn't great but Newcastle were defending well all game. They aren't easy to break down.

I get our fans wanted us to look better going forward but this was a battle and we came prepared and didn't do much wrong. However when the fucking game is rigged against you what can you do?

Look, the way I see it you have a game with human beings your going to get crap moments and exceptional moments go against you. As a team we have to do all we can to make those swings not have the ability to impact us and scoring goals mitigates that and we haven't done enough of that all season. So this game/event may be frustrating but I'm much more focused on what we do have control of and that is nowhere near the level we need right now.

awooga83 Games against top sides often have fine margins, having one big decision go against you is bad enough but two is unforgivable.

I agree our general performance wasn't as good as I would have liked in an attacking sense but we went into a hostile atmosphere and completely shut them down.

Jed Considering our main striker is out what else should he do? Personally I think we need to try Havertz there, especially in away games when he provides a good outlet when under pressure. Trossard worked well there last season for us as well

arteta is the emotional leader in the dressing room, even moreso now that xhaka is gone. remains what response this draw from the team. I think he was using the circumstances to mot just put PMGOL on blast, but also create a siege mentality with our players. he was pissed, but at the same he was calculated in what he said in interviews with all the various media outlets

I thought the whole point of having monster CBs and quality and pace across the backline was to ensure we play high up the pitch and are able to take risks knowing we have the pace, strength and defensive ability to recover? Instead were playing like we are terrified of losing the ball in attack and instead just passing side to side in classic 2021 fashion.

Big Willie i think the league is now calling for physicality all over the pitch, unless you have explosive pace or elite ability on the ball to compensate.

Our attack has a few passengers on that front.

Nobody thinks Arteta has explicitly told anyone not to shoot when in front of goal. That doesn't mean something about the coaching can't lead to hesitation/indecision.
