Aside from their goal which should've been disallowed for a number of reasons, we played Newcastle away and conceded 0,33 xG. Yet, you think 4 out of 5 in the backline were dog shit?

We are sitting here thinking "oh god wouldn't it be great if we had Partey in midfield" but when Arteta had him available he tried some nonsense with him at RB. He tries weird things like that but wont play Zinchenko in midfield even when he's decided Tomi is better at left back. I can't make sense of Arteta. The Havertz singing, the weird selections, etc Its barmy.

Qwiss he never even tried playing rice and partey in midfield together. playing partey at RB to accommodate havertz seemed insane at the time, and the passage of time has proven that to be true

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert he's nowhere near FFS.

In a functioning team, where he's not stuck out wide with no one to link up with centrally, he's up there. When we leave him isolated on the wing and only get the ball out to him after the defence has been given 1 hour to set themselves up, up against 2 players for the most part, then it's hard to create something out of nothing. Put him on the RW for City and the numbers he'd be putting up would be crazy.

He's been average for the most part but when Odegaard, Martinelli and Jesus/Nketiah have all been average compared to their performances in the past I'd put that down more to how we've been set up than anything else.

We're just not an aesthetically pleasing side to watch, and more often than not this season have been sneaking victories by the thinnest of margins. It's a fact our games have regularly gone to the wire with the players either having to go for one last goal, or holding on for dear life deep into stoppage time.

Clrnc And to add on, Dermot Gallagher says it's quite clear it was a foul on Gabriel to him, but we can't re-referee the game as it is not clear and obvious to the VAR so they didn't ask the referee to go to the monitor.

Wasn't the case on Trossards goal last season and I think a one or two others from corners where we've later been adjudged to have fouled the keeper. Fuck the refs, and fuck VAR. It's all expected by now as Arsenal fans that they've got something against us. I wouldn't even bother saying fuck the refs anymore, it should just be a standing order of "fuck the refs" in perpetuity no matter how many decisions they "give" us.

I don’t think you guys in England realise how absurd this all is because it happens all the time. I watch the games every week on different language channels and most of the time the commentators are baffled at what the opposition gets away with. The Russians on Setanta today were shellshocked. They simply couldn’t believe what they were seeing. During that entire VAR check, they didn’t consider for a single second that the goal may be given.

Gurgen Spot on, up until their goal they had offered nothing and as the game went on we would have been the more likely team to score. Our attacking play wasn't great but Newcastle were defending well all game. They aren't easy to break down.

I get our fans wanted us to look better going forward but this was a battle and we came prepared and didn't do much wrong. However when the fucking game is rigged against you what can you do?

That's basically what our games came down to. 0-0 being the baseline and trying to win by 1 goal. I wouldn't say nick a goal because it's not like we are sitting deep not giving anything away and playing on the counter to steal victory, but it's not that far different when our attack is (sterile) possession first and not wanting to lose the ball.

So yeah, we have the majority of the possession but the way we do it is just a different way of playing defensive football.
