Where on earth are people getting this idea that Martinelli is somehow being reigned in?
It’s just a combination of poor form, injuries and not getting them the ball quickly enough. Nothing to do with mechanising them.
Not everything is a tactical instruction.
As for surviving the first half, City had one shot in the first half after the early chances from the corner - and I don’t think anything that happens in the first min can be put down to tactics and lineup, not when it’s Rice hitting the ball out for a throw and then heading it out for a corner under no pressure. There was nothing lucky about it.
