Well he’s out of contract in the summer of 2025 so I’d imagine Brentford would struggle to fetch the £100m they are saying they’d want.

Straight deal I recon £70m gets him but recon they’d be open to a loan with an obligation to buy at £75m or something similar

Yep he's consistently scored throughout his career. I think given how much of the ball we're having in the opposition 3rd he'd score a load here.

I’d wager a huge number of his goals were on the break too.

I’m a big fan of Toney and I’m sure he’d score a few, but expectations that he’ll bag loads are wide of the mark.

He will be a great target in a deep block obviously? Imagine him at the end of the crosses instead of Jesus, he eats all those everyday of the week easily

His link up play is class anyway. He also has a strikers first touch, the sort that opens up a half yard of space before the defender has a chance to set himself. Thats something we lack big time.

damn i might have to revisit my feelings about this one. while i dismissed the title challenge after the west ham game and didn't see the point in spending this kind of money for the delusion of a title challenge, but we might need him to finish top 4.

Feels like this would be a decent risk as Toney hasn't played top flight football for 7 months and somehow we are going to ask him to help for top 4 (or dwindling title) chances?

I think it'll take Toney some time to adjust to playing football again.

Clearly need a goalscorer but is someone who has been banned from even training for 7 months or whatever it is going to add any value this season given we need it urgently? Or would he take a year to come up to speed by which time this and probably next season are gone?
And if we had to take Raya on loan due to FFP can we even afford it or do we need to make big sales first?

flobaba Yep Sept 17th was his return to training date. He should be raring to go.

Ah OK I didn't realise that, I thought he was banned from even training with the team for the full length of the ban. There's still nothing quite like playing actual matches but that's better than not even being allowed to train for 8 months.
If we're close enough to breaching FFP that we had to loan Raya then can we make a big money signing?

As far as I know, reports that we're loaning Raya because of FFP haven't specified whether that means we were already close to breaching it or because we'll have less/no funds for other transfers if we didn't loan him. Loaning him was the better move no matter which of those two is the truth.
