Would be terrific if we did sweep them aside with such ease. I'm curious to see how we adjust tactically against European opposition that's probably weaker than our week-to-week in the Premier League.

Sicario2 - Tier 1

PSV have lost Simons and Gapko since we last played them but are 4/4 in the Dutch league and won 4-0 on the weekend.

Sevilla and Lens looks below par and have lost key players this season so far so the games v PSV will be the most crucial imo. Luckily we play PSV away last but a win on Wed already puts us in a good position.

I'm hoping being back in the CL will get the crowd up and give us a fast start where we blow them away, but I wouldn't be surprised to get a cagey match like Bandy suggests. Either I think we'll keep things tight and do enough going forward to get a couple of goals or three.

I'm a bit circumspect/curious about our how our newly developed tactics will play out in Europe. pep himself got stitched up time and again in Europe before tweaking his defensive set up. wouldn't be surprised if our first season back in the CL was a bit chastening for arteta

I remember the great switch to 4-5-1 back then quite well.

I don't think the situation's too similar now, the Premier League is relatively much stronger than it was, and West Ham are out-bidding the types of opposition we used to record half of our landmark victories against.

However if the Europa last season's anything to go by we ought to try to profit at home in this competition.

Because if the idea is to use both goalkeepers we should do so, and putting Ramsdale back in right away emphasizes that. FWIW I don't think there's a huge difference in quality between them, so I'm more concerned with the expeirment in squad management than quality.

I don't think that's the idea. I think Arteta is just waffling to defuse/distract from what would be a tense situation. Just today he compared the situation to when he brought in Ramsdale when we had Leno.
