Side-point but I do wonder whether the Saudi football bubble will burst. A lot of players seem to be rumoured to be looking for European clubs, which doesn't surprise me when you consider the restrictions they'll face in daily life versus the lives they enjoyed living in Europe.

You jest, but Osimhen seems like the one to get to me—he's the "Rice" we need up front. Toney would be better than useful if we already had him and of course you'd take him this second if available, but medium term we need the level up.

We also badly need to save Saka from his plight, he's miserable out there. Starting to look chonky and tired all the time, like sad clown Pagliacci with that shitty haircut.

invisibleman18 lol. To be frank. I’m gutted about the cup. I like a final. The Ramsey finals were some of my happiest days. Even the finals we lost like Liverpool and Barcelona were great days. You want to be in big finals. I’m sure the boys are as gutted as I am. Especially because we started so well 🙁

goon only issue is squad is extremely short. Our depth chart is insane right now. I am assuming that Partey, ESR and Timber are effectively out for the season. We need to work around that - whether it’s a fullback or a winger.

Same place they came from last year, just need to find some confidence and calm back in front of goal.

Don’t get me wrong, another proven goalscorer would be welcome, I just don’t think you’re all that likely to find it in Jan, it’s hard enough as it is in the summer.

Even if we did, you’d still need Martinelli, Jesus, Saka and Ode to find their shooting boots.

goon see I'm not sure that they definitely will. I personally don't think Odegaard is going to score that many goals as I don't think he's a great finisher in general. Saka and Martinelli certainly look better prospects but I don't think we can assume the perfect storm we got last season it's going to be the reality this season and even not certain if that will be their level consistently.

I get the view on we try to go with who we have I just think the league will be blown by then because we don't have any real margin for error now.

He's out in Arteta's mind at least. Aside from 2 minute cameos here and there. Or the whole world comes crashing down and it's a last throw of the dice.

Big Willie he started playing a bunch of minutes, including staring a couple of games. Got about 200 minutes in 5 games. And then his minutes dropped precipitously to about 2 minutes a game. It looks like a player who is being managed, likely reacted badly to increasing load.

Not sure I agree with that. Its clear Arteta has his favourites and ESR isn't one of them. Tomi who breaks down every time he comes back into the team always comes back from injury and is thrown in for at least more than a couple injury time minutes. Same with Jesus, same with Zinchenko.

If Arteta doesn't trust a player he won't use them until it's desparation time, which we're coming up to so who knows, maybe ESR will get some starts soon. Doubt it's gonna be long term even if he scores a bunch of goals/assists. He just be back on the bench again behind Nketiah and Trossard who are his main go to guys. Probably Vieira as well as soon as he gets fit again.

Big Willie so I think the difference is just about whether ESR’s body can actually carry him more than anything. Which is a bit different from some of the other ramping up the other guys are doing. Probably closer to how we will have to re-integrate Timber.

When Arteta was interviewed last week he said he never entertained selling ESR. So it’d be weird for him to be so openly committed to this guy and also decidedly against him. I’m going to try find a way to get to the bottom of this

This is the same guy that didn't want to let Nelson go but given him no starts and a few sub appearances in the league, or the same guy who refused to sell AMN but froze him out and let him go for free after hardly playing for months/years.

I dunno, I just don't believe he trusts many players outside the starting XI, even the ones he signed up. Didn't we get Ramsdale to sign a new contract only to get Raya months later and freeze him out despite all his talk about substituting keepers and how they are no different from outfield players. I've stopped taking stock into his words when he's complimenting our bench players.
