Timber and Hato (if we are successful in the summer) excite. However, I continue to feel alarmed that the attention Artedu have given to the front line comparatively is to bring in Trossard, Jesus, Havertz, Willian, and Marquinhos over 3+ years. Some of those transfers were not secure additions that would immediately and reliably contribute at the needed level. I appreciate there were ambitious pursuits for Mudryk, Isak and Vlahovic but still feels like neglect when on top they're already beginning to phase out/relegate their 1st cycle defensive acquisitions. Some of them came at a premium and at the expense of other positions at critical moments of previous campaigns. The list is led by Ramsdale, White, Zinchenko (all re-signing a few months back?). It continues on with the likes of Tavares, possibly Kiwior and I wonder how close Tomiyasu was to being cut.
I don't fully buy into the need to have 2 players per position of commensurate top quality (readymade or on potential) as a precondition for our first potential title as part of this build. That is luxury. Outgrowing a substantive set of defensive investments within a two-season interval and requesting further investment is not something I think should be overlooked either. None of its straightforward though, and success is not assured with any squad building path. Hopefully Artedu's prioritisation in transfer windows will work out.
