Deadline day Summer 23.
Arteta always lies
We should hire whoever is in charge of negotiations at Chelsea. They've rinsed every single team they've sold to. Holy fuck

Spuds sign Brennan Johnson for 48m
Rate him but remains to be seen if he's worth that much
Arteta fully into "answer questions with a pseud metaphor" mode. Delivers it well but a little humility wouldn't go astray.
People expecting Holding will go for close to 10m.
Nah, 4m

39 games in the championship, 4 goals....31.5 mil. How are Chelsea this good at selling players? and in the last year of his contract, wow.
6 mil loan fee, more then what we got for Holding.

Thats a good deal for Roy and move for Rob. Unsurprising return for us.
Been slightly melancholic about this imminent departure because Wenger's fingerprints on the squad have nearly eroded. Just Eddie and Elneny left.
KingslandBarge we’ve nearly washed Bizarro Wenger right out of our hair!
I know Holding is well down the pecking order and no longer fits our style but he's actually a decent defender in a different setup (let's not forget he was being touted for the captaincy during Emery's time). We also bought Squillaci for around £4m...and that was 15 years ago! There's no way in my mind he should be sold for so little but we are consistently bad at selling so...
All this being said, was listening to Charles Watts on the Arsecast and have come round a bit more to the fee for Balogun. He rightly pointed out that excluding PSG, French clubs don't have the kinda money we wanted. I still think we got a sub-optimal fee (£34m guaranteed is disappointing) but given we didn't want to sell to a PL club, we were unlikely to get more than £40m.
Holding for 4 million with so many other players with less experience, less quality and less potential going for more. Maybe he wanted to stay in London and we sanctioned that. But Edu really sucks at selling
Don Pacifico In similar vein I was not keen for Arsenal to spend time dealing with Inter Milan's interest in Balo because they were never going to pay anywhere close to going rate, or wouldn't have the money to do so. Perhaps misplaced, but I was hoping RB Leipzig would swoop in with their riches.
lorddulaarsenal I know you're chuffed for sure
Burnwinter He is a muppet sometimes
KingslandBarge and Reiss (Wenger blooded him as a RWB in preseason 2017)
Garbage deadline day. So glad I've been too busy to follow any of it.
We are so, so bad at selling.
But re: Chelsea sales prices... two words: player farming. Clubs like paying big fees for young and up and coming players who've come off the back of a season where they've shown a lot of development. Chelsea tend to have lots of those because of their model.
Players close to their peak who've sat on the bench for years... not so much.
naz Holding for 4 million with so many other players with less experience, less quality and less potential going for more.
Like who?
I said this before but for all the complaints about our selling prices hardly any of them end up good value for the buyers. That's the bigger problem, we don't sell well because generally what we sell is trash.
Burnwinter Everton would be crazy to sell Wobs. He's probably been their best outfield player over the last year to 18 months.
Qwiss Right but if I were him I'd get the fuck out of there, your cortisol's gonna suck fighting relegation every season
