I can't believe Spurs are ready to pay 35-45 million for Conor Gallagher. Chelsea have gotten so so lucky with sales this summer.

JazzG its a 150 million apparently. I'd have taken that if I was Schmadtke, granted the player accepted. Klopp must fancy a title charge, or conversely may be nervous about his post should things go south.

I think the bid coming in so late is what will cause issues. They've had literally 2 months to get this done and I reckon Liverpool would have considered anything above £100m. By leaving it so late it will take bonkers money to get them to sell. Even then like HomSteak mentions Klopp is gonna be super pissed if they go against him.

JazzG This offer coming in so late is a bit stupid though as Liverpool will ask for higher amount or point blank refuse to sell.

Donning the tinfoil hat, it could be stupid or, if it were to go through for £120m or more, it could just be a way of covering up an absurdly inflated fee.

    Sicario2 - Tier 1 ‘I don’t expect anyone else to come in’

Be handy if you posted a source to be honest, mine was from a tweet as I wasn't watching the presser.

Sounds to me nothing definitive has been stated so it's early to lock anything.

We should hire whoever is in charge of negotiations at Chelsea. They've rinsed every single team they've sold to. Holy fuck

Spuds sign Brennan Johnson for 48m

Rate him but remains to be seen if he's worth that much

Arteta fully into "answer questions with a pseud metaphor" mode. Delivers it well but a little humility wouldn't go astray.

People expecting Holding will go for close to 10m.

        Nah, 4m

39 games in the championship, 4 goals....31.5 mil. How are Chelsea this good at selling players? and in the last year of his contract, wow.

6 mil loan fee, more then what we got for Holding.

Thats a good deal for Roy and move for Rob. Unsurprising return for us.
Been slightly melancholic about this imminent departure because Wenger's fingerprints on the squad have nearly eroded. Just Eddie and Elneny left.

I know Holding is well down the pecking order and no longer fits our style but he's actually a decent defender in a different setup (let's not forget he was being touted for the captaincy during Emery's time). We also bought Squillaci for around £4m...and that was 15 years ago! There's no way in my mind he should be sold for so little but we are consistently bad at selling so...

All this being said, was listening to Charles Watts on the Arsecast and have come round a bit more to the fee for Balogun. He rightly pointed out that excluding PSG, French clubs don't have the kinda money we wanted. I still think we got a sub-optimal fee (£34m guaranteed is disappointing) but given we didn't want to sell to a PL club, we were unlikely to get more than £40m.
