Our CL fixtures have now been confirmed
I’ve put them below and how they will be sandwiched between the league fixtures we got either side of these CL ties as this will give us better context as how these games could effect our league progression and vice versa.
Wed 20th September : Arsenal v PSV (we play Everton away Sat 16th and Spurs at home Sun24th)
Tue 3rd October: Lens v Arsenal (we play Bournemouth away Sat 30th September and City at home Sunday 8th October. Side note: City away to RB Leipzig on the Wed before our game so less rest for them which is good )
Tue 24th October: Sevilla v Arsenal (we play Chelsea away Sat 21st October and Sheffield Utd at home Sat 28th October)
Wed Nov 8th: Arsenal v Sevilla (play Newcastle away on the weekend on Sat 4th Nov as Newcastle play CL on Tue 7th Nov and play Burnley at home Sat 11/Sun 12 Nov -dates tbc)
Wed Nov 29th: Arsenal v Lens (play Brentford away game on Sat 25/Sun 26 November and play Wolves at home Sat 2nd/Sun 3rd of December)
Tue 12th December: PSV v Arsenal (play Aston Villa away Sat 9th/Sun 10th December and Brighton at home on Sun 17th December as they will also be in Europe it will be def on a Sunday)
Conclusion:
They seem ok to me, evenly spread out and we don’t have any away games after an away CL tie which is good.
Arguably our hardest game is last which should mean the least assuming we have qualified by then. We start with a home game and our first away game is against our easiest opponents. Really should be 6/6 by the time we go to game 3.
The only short turn around could be when we play Lens at home on the Wed 29th Nov and we may have to play Wolves at home on the Sat.
The CL fixture arrangements v our league games could have been a lot worse so I’m happy with it and the short travel time will also really help. Much better than EL Thur to Sun turnaround.
