Just play Partey and Rice as a double-pivot and play defenders in the back line. I guess that would leave out Havertz though. Can't have that.

We've never really played a double pivot though. I don't see why we'd want to start doing that, other than because we still have Partey on the books

The supposed trade off weakening our defence for more control isn't worth it. We look a lot more vulnerable and not a lot more in control than last season.

I thought Rice and Partey were decent, other than that pretty awful all round. Havertz and Kiwior are passengers. Saka and Martinelli are just off. Trossard is buzzing around but has he even had one shot? He's the CF and is too far from goal most of the time.

If Jesus is fit I'd bring him on, if not then bring Eddie on. I'd also get Gabriel and Zinchenko on for Havertz and Kiwior.

Lukazan -- it's a wide array of issues, but to me it's:

Saka/Odegaard have their partnership interrupted by playing Partey at RB. Ben White had a great season and fantastic partnership with Saka, and that is clearly missing.

Havertz to me looks one part confused and one part lackadaisical. His role appears to be focused on off ball runs to complement Odegaard (as our creator) but he isn't playing with any conviction. Contrast him to what Ramsey offered, and you see how square of a peg he is.

Pepe LeFrits I meant as a CM pair actually. Rice can roam around, he has the legs and Partey can sit a bit deeper.

We look awful, a terrible mistake early on to set us back but after that the whole team look clueless and just not sharp. Has to be one of the worst performances from the team in a few years.

Havertz is like Ozil but like with only 1/10 of the talent. I may be harsh but that is what I think.

AAStyle -- people have to get past the Ozil comparison just because he's a languid German forward.

He's far more like Ramsey - in role - if we need an Arsenal comparable.

AAStyle You may be right on the 1/10 part but he's nothing like Ozil or indeed any footballer I've ever seen. Genuinely I can't work him out.

Martinelli and Saka being so untouchable winds me up sometimes. It's about fucking time we invest in a new wide player to be a new option for us.

Not sure what Ramsdale is supposed to do. The forward didn't even mean to hit it that way, total fluke.

Havertz is the only player taking up scoring positions. He and Martinelli need to sort out their relationship. Martinelli just isn't making the right choices.

Partey is a disaster at RB. Hate it. Rather he were just benched. Saka having a nightmare game and I partially blame Thomas.

Trossard the worst player on the pitch, though. Havertz at least can control the football.

Rice and Odegaard excellent. White and Saliba missing Papa Gabby.
