He was. Caught everything that came his way aside from that header onto the post and the one he came and missed that Romero headed over.

There has to be a reassessment of the cost/benefit of playing short at the back. I love Raya's longer distribution (that kick to Martinelli was excellent), so he should keep doing that. But playing short needs to be more situational. Yes it was a huge Raya error and he deserves blame, but there is also a philosophy from Arteta on down that is pushing 'bravery' in possession all the way back to the keeper. When you have a lead and the opposition can't break you down, CLEAR YOUR LINES! We concede more from silly mistakes than from actually being cut open these days.

We vary it a lot and went long a lot today. That was just a brain fart moment. I think was going to clip it to Party but saw him being closed down so pulled out, but it was too late.

Otherwise I don’t think we’ve ever looked uncomfortable at the back.

I can't get past the fact that I've can only think of one (maybe two?) game(s) all season where he's materially changed the result in our favour.

All of those defensive/clean sheet stats are a credit to our defenders more than him.

Don Pacifico I really don't think this is a correct assessment. Saves are less important if you don't have to make them, and the rest of the game has to be weighted more heavily.

Don Pacifico this guy integrates so well into the team. You’re missing the fact that we control the game so well with him. This mistake today happened because he’s such an integral and trusted part of build up. Ball comes back, and he quickly helps draw offense and build up again. He’s also ridiculous at his long balls. Think how often today he launched to and hit Saka.

A goalie who primarily saves shots is for midtable teams. We need our goalie to mainly be good on offense. Which he has been aside from this mess up today and a few others

Nearly ended our season together with Rice today, it was easily as bad as any keeping error we've had. He's been good but he's got one of these in his locker every now and then

Lost focus and got punished, which put us under unnecessary and immense pressure, but was steady otherwise esp coming out to claim crosses and help calm things down.

Thought his passing on the floor looked off before the goal too. Think he let the pressure get to him today. People need to accept these things happen to all keepers when you play like that. There was an over reaction to Ramsdale doing it.

Raya should count himself lucky he's making these occasional errors in a stronger side, Ramsdale ended up crucified for the sins of the collective last season.

Plus it's simply a risk you have to live with if you ask your goalie to be a part of your build up or use their feet regularly and comfortably. The likes of Alison, Ederson, etc occasionally misplay passes as well and get punished.

Even Odegaard gets his passes picked off every now and then.
