He's been really impressive these last few games.

Difference maker in situations where the team starts to bottle it. Could have been quite different outcomes to the Wolves and Chelsea games without his huge timely stops.

He has made a string of top saves since (and during) the Bayern tie, and there's been a good connection with the defence. Even before that I hadn't wanted to see Ramsdale back for a while.

Our defence overall remains exceptional, setting all time records for the club. Difference is I'm feeling more willing to treat Raya as a foundation of that rather than an ornament.

Only concern I have left is scrubbing out his occasional communication snafus with Gabriel and Saliba. That's on the three of them.

Burnwinter I'm happy to say I was wrong him. I've said before I got the vision, but thought it was too soon to make the change considering how much else was done in the team last summer.

He's settled really well, eventually, and has been a significant positive for the team.

I think Ramsdale has arguably higher high points (and lower lows) in him, though I expect Raya will prove to be more consistent, and if you want anything from a keeper I'd take that consistency. I also don't think he's going to be top tier, but the trade off is what else he brings to the team.

I do worry that as good as he, Gabriel and Saliba are individually and as a unit, I don't see a natural leader there. I don't think Raya is vocal enough (also in general), Saliba is experienced enough, or Gabriel has the mentality to do it.

Saliba could be the one out of the three—he's got a healthy ego and likes to get the rest of the squad going in the dressing room. But he's been oddly in his shell of late. Raya seems mostly unassuming, and Gabriel is passionate but tends to boil over. Might have to keep them together a couple more seasons and then we'll see.

This guy does a few great things. The first is how good he is on crosses. He extends his go-go-Gadget arms and just kills opposition attacks. Next is his footwork. Always assured like an out friend player. You never see miscontrols leading to chances. Finally, those quick accurate distributions to the forwards.

He isn’t going to win the Seaman shot stopping award, but on a team that doesn’t face shots, this isn’t a strength we need. It’s all the other stuff we need.

Saliba has looked dodgy the last couple of games at times. Almost too overconfident at times

Golden gloves were almost shit gloves today ... I'm a Raya convert but his biggest fan would have to admit he's got a massive mistake in him at times

He was. Caught everything that came his way aside from that header onto the post and the one he came and missed that Romero headed over.

There has to be a reassessment of the cost/benefit of playing short at the back. I love Raya's longer distribution (that kick to Martinelli was excellent), so he should keep doing that. But playing short needs to be more situational. Yes it was a huge Raya error and he deserves blame, but there is also a philosophy from Arteta on down that is pushing 'bravery' in possession all the way back to the keeper. When you have a lead and the opposition can't break you down, CLEAR YOUR LINES! We concede more from silly mistakes than from actually being cut open these days.

We vary it a lot and went long a lot today. That was just a brain fart moment. I think was going to clip it to Party but saw him being closed down so pulled out, but it was too late.

Otherwise I don’t think we’ve ever looked uncomfortable at the back.

I can't get past the fact that I've can only think of one (maybe two?) game(s) all season where he's materially changed the result in our favour.

All of those defensive/clean sheet stats are a credit to our defenders more than him.

Don Pacifico I really don't think this is a correct assessment. Saves are less important if you don't have to make them, and the rest of the game has to be weighted more heavily.

Don Pacifico this guy integrates so well into the team. You’re missing the fact that we control the game so well with him. This mistake today happened because he’s such an integral and trusted part of build up. Ball comes back, and he quickly helps draw offense and build up again. He’s also ridiculous at his long balls. Think how often today he launched to and hit Saka.

A goalie who primarily saves shots is for midtable teams. We need our goalie to mainly be good on offense. Which he has been aside from this mess up today and a few others

Nearly ended our season together with Rice today, it was easily as bad as any keeping error we've had. He's been good but he's got one of these in his locker every now and then

Lost focus and got punished, which put us under unnecessary and immense pressure, but was steady otherwise esp coming out to claim crosses and help calm things down.

Thought his passing on the floor looked off before the goal too. Think he let the pressure get to him today. People need to accept these things happen to all keepers when you play like that. There was an over reaction to Ramsdale doing it.

Raya should count himself lucky he's making these occasional errors in a stronger side, Ramsdale ended up crucified for the sins of the collective last season.
