Sympathise with Mikel here. I don’t buy the whole you don’t change the keeper nonsense that the pundits are coming up with. The reason it’s an issue is just because typically managers have not done but. But similarly, managers had not played without a striker or with scoring wingers for about 70 years until the current generation.
There are so many changes in the game now that support playing two keepers. First, there are more games in a season. Second, games are longer - yesterday multiple games went 105 minutes (those extra minutes don’t appear on stats). And lastly, keepers are expected to play the ball more, defend more presses, and cover more ground to support possession teams. All of this sounds like a fundamental change in goalie working conditions, which is worth an adaptation.
