Kel Varnsen Agreed, not about winning or losing. Just need to stand up and show some fight in this match.
I don't think it's fight we lacked. Just need to make sure we are more composed on the ball. We were thoroughly outplayed every time last season, bar the FA Cup again.
Good to see Zinchenko + Nelson back in training.
Hopefully Jesus will be back soon too.
Guardiola: “Normally when you win the titles that we won they give you a chance to play for new ones – Community Shield and Sevilla next week and in Saudi Arabia in winter time [at the World Cup Championship]. [It] will be a good opportunity [to win another trophy]. Of course, we are going to try.
“We know the situation we are in right now. We finish two weeks after Arsenal. We start two weeks after Arsenal. We are not in the best way but it is a final, hopefully our mentality can help us to compete and try to win the title."
I just don't like the fucker.
flobaba Nobody does, fuck the bald prick.
I'm gonna watch on the treadmill again, we should win then. Also, Zinchenko played in a friendly game yesterday(11 minutes), after he said he is fit and ready for today...but you would imagine he is not gonna get any minutes. But he should be ready for the PL, and thats good news.
Looking forward to seeing how Havertz fits in here - haven't watched any of the pre-season
Will be interesting to see our starting line up. Should give us some indication on what the team going into the season will probably look like. Really hope it's Trossard, and not Nketiah, up front.
Hope Nkeitah starts. Preference toward Trossard like most but believe in due process and good man management. Trossard can start in midfield, right wing or be our most effective substitution and spark off the bench. Over to Mikel, will be interesting to see the call.
Nketiah hasn't shown anything in pre-season to start for me.
First start, first chance, only Arsenal goal of the game against Monaco? Don't get me wrong, my desire would be to drop him and Trossard has looked sizzling enough to start anywhere in the XI. I would just choose to use another preseason fixture to stand pat and don't demoralise and send wrong signals to the only proper striker we have for 6-7 weeks before the season's even started. If he has a stinker or is ineffectual, he'll understand why Mikel will try something different next week. Trossard meanwhile, should know his stock is mile high and his chance is inevitable.
Sicario2 - Tier 1 Mikel say its a trophy.
"The Community Shield is a trophy. When there is a trophy on the table, you want to win. This will be our approach today against a very good Manchester City team."
Clrnc I think they should change the name to ‘super cup’ which is what they call this game in the rest of the major European leagues. That has a better ring to it all of a sudden and makes it feel bigger/more important.
I think we should start Eddie simply because I believe in rewarding players based on their most recent performances. Especially because he's an actual striker.
Trossard has been one of our best players though and should probably start at LCM.
Twitter says it's gonna be Rice-Odegaard-Partey today. With Rice in that 8 role. Still think Havertz showed much more then Rice in pre-season and should have started...but still kinda excited to see the 3 of them.
Also Saka is out injured
HomeSteak Did they have the whole lineup or just those three?
QuincyAbeyie just the 3 and then the Saka news
This fixture is always a glorified friendly for me. It doesn't mean anything for the season even if you get a result I don't think it carries over because it doesn't have the same significance as a truly competitive game. It'll be good to see some of the ideas that will presumably play a part in the season though.
So Vieira or Trossard at RWF.
Think I'd actually prefer Vieira in that case because imo it's where Trossard is least effective, plus we need to see if the Portuguese can start showing something for once.
Arsenal XI: Ramsdale, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber, Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli, Havertz
Havertz for route 1
