invisibleman18 For his knee to not last past half a game suggests there may have been an underlying issue there and it was ready to go, so how did this get missed? Do we genuinely do proper medical checks if we so often end up with players who can't last a handful of games without breaking down? Or is "nah bro I never get injured" all it is?
Nah, I don't think you can really tell up front with impact injuries. They're just in that "shit happens" category—my understanding is that muscular problems are a bit different, as a player who keeps having them probably has congenitally weak muscle fibres, is being overplayed, and so on.
Unless of course Timber is one of those people who's had a lot of prior ligament trouble. I used to play football with a willow-the-wisp type guy whose shoulder would just randomly dislocate every now and then, he was so used to it he just used to grit his teeth and pop it back in, then take a few minutes out.
If it is a season ender, I feel bloody sorry for him and hope he recovers all the way … terrible moment in any pro athlete's life.
