Trossard is sizzling; I am so pleased he's absolutely pushing everyone in that front line, and now also in midfield to hold their starting place. A title charge needs a bit of cavalry and I am really happy he's part of that. Meanwhile, it gets more and more tricky for Smith-Rowe whilst he's resting from the U21 tournament.

I think I'd loan out Vieira, preferably to another premier league team. Nelson's fitness also has me rethinking about Marquinhos.

Good to see Tomiyasu on the pitch again. He's part of the cavalry too.

KingslandBarge I think I'd loan out Vieira, preferably to another premier league team.

I would too but I'm not sure which PL teams would give him a lot of minutes.

Yeah I think Vieira badly needs a loan in PL as well. Somewhere at Brighton will be great. I doubt he will have many meaningful minutes here.

marquinos doesn't have the gait of a baller. he just looks all wrong. almost mustafi like.

Marquinhos does try to be impactful when he gets a shot though. Compared to say Vieira who seems to be happy to let the game just flow by him.

Vieira isn't clever enough and doesn't think quickly enough to get away with his lack of speed and strength. His movement is wrong and the few times he picks the ball up in promising positions, he's so preoccupied about getting tackled that he's forced to pass back. He's definitely not going to get the game time here to get over that hurdle.

Vieira does look to be a bit of a dud which is a shame. I don't think he'll get a PL loan as he's not going to start for many teams who'd accommodate a player of his ilk and those that he'd be good enough for will be battling and hence need a battler, which he is unfortunately not.

I think a La Liga/Serie A/Ligue 1 loan to build his profile a bit before selling is probably the play here.

Have to agree on Vieira. It's a shame because pre-World cup he was looking quite good.

Came in vs Brentford for Odegaard and also vs Wolves for Xhaka, both away games and the team didn't miss a beat and he played well.

Then post-World cup things seemed to stop coming off for him and maybe he lost confidence/rhythm and struggled every time he was swapped in for home games against "easier" opposition.

Now it's hard to see him contributing positively to the team and a loan is definitely required.

He's too casual and complacent. No outstanding talents that he consistently uses. There's nothing going for him. If he was playing for another team, I wouldn't even know he existed. All around just meh.

Like even Marqui sometimes hustles through with a burst of speed or power or a dribble and I think we could refine that.
Vieira sometimes makes a decent pass but every other player in our team already does that. Our youth players show more promise.

naz There's nothing going for him.

          That's way OTT.

The lad has very good vision and is clearly a gifted, creative player imo, but he needs to learn to impose himself on games a lot more.

He played roughly 15 matches in terms of minutes last season and got 2 goals and 6 assists, which isn't terrible for a young player that is new to the league.

I'm exaggerating for sure. I hope he comes good one way or another.
I'm thinking about it this way too: there's a ton of gifted and creative players like him and better. Even within the team or u21s I've seen better. Why not give them the chances? He's a 2018 Arsenal player, not 2023 Arsenal.

Pepe LeFrits he's 23, he should be further along in his development. He didn't play much for Porto either, if he stays here this season he's going to be working on limited minutes again. He needs to go out and get football every week if he's going to develop.

naz I'd give Nwaneri his minutes. He's at a stage where he can do that now and get more minutes later. As I say Vieira needs to play every week.

Qwiss Would need to reflect on it but first names that came to mind were Bournemouth and Brentford. With Bournemouth it's an unknown after they let go of Gary O'Neil. With Brentford, potentially in the pocket pinging balls to Toney? I've heard Damsgard had a mixed season so perhaps could unlock him by playing beside, or play instead of him. Not going to pretend I know that much about Brentford.
I think Vieira has solvable performance issues and some work to do on his in-game intelligence, but I can see an enticing enough level of quality. For someone like Lokonga, I have questions all around. Hopefully I am not being unfair to the latter.

I really liked seeing Tomiyasu come on at CB in the last game. Something about it just seems so right.

I was all for selling him this summer because of injury record, but I rate his defensive game so much that I'm okay with the club taking a risk on him this season. I think he could be a fantastic CB in this system, and obviously his versatility is also useful.

healthy tomi is dream squad depth. so versatile and has underrated ball skills. can't teach that two footedness

                Clrnc
yeah i thought i was misremembering the fact that he's always been a CB until we had to make it work at RB.

i wonder if his injuries are due to playing a position that has more physical demands than what he was use to.
