No matter who would be the "best captain", to think it's an even halfway decent idea that Arteta should go to this group of players who seem to be doing great together and tell them "I know we voted for this season's captain, but I've changed my mind" is hilarious.

I don't see any potential positive effects from changing the captain other than shutting up the "pashun and desire" crowd. Rice can do everything he does without the armband.

What the fuck nonsense is that - so the opinions of people who are would be directly captained by him don't matter but the opinion of you and Piers who have no working relationship with any of them do matter. Never heard such nonsense. A fans opinion (including mine) is so irrelevant that if you, god forbid, died today - the club won't even spare a second to grieve over it.

Just compare it to a real world example - imagine me telling you who should employ as a director in your business or whatever.

Also - as a deeper point - none of this matters. Look at Man City and Real Madrid, two of the most successful clubs of the past decade, they basically hand out the armband to the longest serving player and move on with their lives.

The focus has been on creating a leadership group instead.

There is absolutely nothing to gain from making Rice captain mid-season, what material difference will it make to the team? However there is a lot more to lose by stripping Odegaard, firstly you'd upset a key player in Odegaard and then on top you'd potentially upset squad harmony. I simply can't get my head around why anyone would look at us, top of the league and top of the CL table, still in all four competitions and think you know what we really need to do here is strip Odegaard of the captaincy and give it Rice. I get people saying long term Rice should be our captain, I also share that belief but why the hell is this even being discussed right now?

Sicario2 Morgan falsely accused 40 or so Arsenal fans of hooliganism in the early 2000s and cost them their livelihoods for which he’s publicly accepted culpability.
