Yep this is a big problem. We need Chelsea to win or draw v Villa (as much as it would boost Spurs for Sunday).

HomeSteak Spurs have 2 games in hand on Villa. Even if they lose to us and Villa win they can still catch Villa. It's Villa not City they are chasing. Spurs would need to drop points again, with Villa being perfect at the same time for Spurs to be out of the CL spot battle by the City game.

The support for sure. But can you imagine Arteta or the players taking it easy? Heads would roll.

goon I'm not saying they'll score own goals on purpose, but you see time and time again that teams with nothing to play for don't try as hard as teams that have something to play for.

And that's before you add that the supporters would rather have them lose/draw than win.

Which is why I said any serious manager/player. I've seen us play plenty of teams with 'nothing to play for' who played with a lot freedom and effort against us. I'd wager Palace are one of the teams no one is really looking forward to playing right now, for example.

It depends more on the mental state of the team, if they're waiting for the season to end and just want to go home, we're done. If they want to play some football and prove their quality, they'll be competitive, as much as Tottenham can be competitive.

My bigger concern right now is that they're just not very good. And unlike Kane and Son era Spurs, they're no longer a great smash and grab side to catch City out either.

5 games for Spurs at that point. So pretty much a 3 point difference if they win those 2 games.

Problem is Spurs play the following fixtures:

Arsenal - H - April 28
Chelsea - A - May 2
Liverpool - A - May 5
Burnley - H - May 11
Man City - H - May 14
Sheffield United - A - May 19

While Villa play

Chelsea - H - April 27
Brighton - A - May 4
Liverpool - H - May 11
Crystal Palace - A - May 19

So tomorrow/Sunday hopefully they both lose to us and Chelsea. So still 6 point difference with 2 games in hand.

Spurs then play Chelsea and Liverpool in 3 days. They'll probably lose the Liverpool game and maybe win against Chelsea. But then again Villa could conceivably lose against Chelsea/Liverpool/Brighton and Palace.

You never know with any of these lot. Lroblem is by then, they'll know if they have a chance or not. Pretty shit that City Spurs game's been pushed back so late in the season.

But fuck it all regardless, we do our job. Beat the scum, beat United, beat Bournmouth and Everton and we have a decent shot of winning it. Need to make sure we do it though. If we don't it's a moo point. If we do and City remain perfect then it is what it is.

If Spurs are out of top 4 contention by the time they play City it'll be because they've imploded already.

Just remembered Villa are still in a European semi -final. Hopefully this works in our favour.

Only positives about Spurs City (assuming top 4 is gone for the former by the time this game is played) is that a) it’s Spurs’s last home game of the season so surely they would want to give their fans a good send off and b) it’s an evening game when usually atmospheres are better.

This would entail making sure we don't win the League. At least in the fans eyes. Imagine Spurs winning against City that night gives us the title? Given the goal difference, all it takes for us to win the next 3 games until and City at least drop points from 1 draw between now and the Spurs game.
