Yeah. City have ruined the league. 10 years ago this would be considered an exciting title race. Now the assumption is you need to be 10 points ahead of City before you’re even considered a threat.

That may be true, but until it is, I’m not waving a white flag.

Gazza M to an extent, I like that we've not really built a full head of steam, but are top of the table. I'm quietly hopeful we do what city did last season, and find another gear in 2024. our attack has a ton of scope for improvement

OR - we just are what we are. a steady eddy team without another gear.

Not necessarily, but If Liverpool are a threat then we’ve a great chance.

City and Liverpool will drop plenty of points, I don't doubt that at all. I just feel we're more likely to and will. I don't think City or Liverpool lose 2-0 at home to West Ham.

I think we'll see a few too many games like today where our attacker's worst traits come to the fore, and ultimately fall short. Hope I'm wrong. Arteta needs to bring in some offensive options in January though, for sure - I die a little inside when we are chasing a game and I see Nketiah come on.

The league is over for me. Liverpool had it in them to grind out a victory in the last 5 mins with 2 goals against Fulham and they have played more difficult fixtures than us. City is City.

When you dropped too many stupid points especially in a 3 horse race you are doomed.

Clrnc it’s halfway point in the league, mate. We’ve played basically the sane schedule. We’ve dealt with injury and form issues, integrating key new players. 2 points of the top. Yet it’s over?

Claudius We have all seen this script before. All the things you mentioned, which incidentally was also mentioned every year since 2004, will not matter a single bit. Only the end result does.

Called it last year after West Ham, gonna do that same this year

Clrnc we have a striking quality issue. And we are 2 points off the top at mid-season. This isn’t some crazy crisis. If we can come up with a clever solution for this in January, maybe we get over the hump. It might be as simple as changing the way we play, relinquishing some control and giving up more chances, but allowing us to enjoy more attacks against unstructured defences.

That said, I would like you and others to go and read the comments here, in newspapers and blogs and from De Zerbi immediately after we beat Brighton. That was about 10 days ago - and we were basically held up as the pinnacle of footballing genius

He’s right. We don’t have the depth nor minerals to win the title. It is what it is.

We should have won it last season when it was on a plate as we are clearly still experiencing a hangover from it (esp the attacking players).

CL we bizarrely have a much better chance so not all is lost for this season. But I would put good money we don’t finish more than 3rd in the league.

RowJimmy if you're posting as if you're on the team then you're not being honest, because the team shouldn't be realistic about their chances. They should believe no matter what.

All of that may be true, in your opinion at least, but throwing in the towel with 19 games to go seems a little defeatist, no?

I’m a realist pal and I’ve seen this movie before. Even if we are in a good position we will find a way to bottle it.

For me everything is on CL and FA Cup. We have to win something, 4 years without a trophy not acceptable for this club.
