Claudius It's not a crazy crisis. In fact I didn't disagree with your analysis. I just think we dropped too many points to keep up pace in these modern 90 point title race. Unless you believe by signing a striker in January, we can win enough points in much more difficult fixtures while both City and Pool drop enough same stupid points as us in easy fixtures. The probability is against us, and we all know how Arteta's teams end the season. Basically we have to have last season's first half of the season to win the league.

I am looking at math and probability, you are looking at reasons why we struggled with our performances. We have all analysed enough reasons why we struggled in every season, why we didn't win in every season. Those can be true, and also equally pointless. Nobody cares about the reasons why you don't win the title.

City drew at home to Palace a week ago, Liverpool drew against Luton as well as a lot of near misses. I think both look vulnerable.

The real question is which team can go into beast mode first and less about how everyone is doing now.

I think at the moment it looks like the team that will win the league will likely be off the insane pace that most the titles have been won with recently. If that ends up being the case you have to be able to push for the title in that season that's your opportunity for all teams against a City like club.

We are 4 years and plenty of investment info Arteta's Arsenal now and he needs to deliver this year..I think if the title pans out with City dropping a little this year and we don't win it then there has to be serious questions about where we think we can go under Arteta.He's a very promising manager but right now he's not shown Klopp or Pep's ability to get the big trophies. It's still possible he can't reach there level as much as we would all hope.

He needs to deliver this year for me but as a few above seeing how we are playing right now it's not good enough to win a title we will drop too many points.

Wenger was let go for a reason. It was ok for a few years post Emirates as we had ‘no money’ but not competing for titles properly wasn't going to wash with the club and rightly so.

Of course we have standards and as fans we should make sure they are held high.

Seems a bit silly to count us out when we're 2 points off top, and top is Liverpool not City. African cups gonna mean a month without Salah too.

We need to improve but so do Liverpool and City. The thing I think we have another gear. The only question is can Arteta unlock it?

Which is really where I came in with Clarence and was the point I was making. You could look at any of the top three right now and say improvements are needed to win the title. It's self evident.

RocktheCasbah there's an assumption of inevitability with City but I'm not taking that as a certainty either. They've rarely looked as poor as they have this season. No gaurantee KDB comes back in top form or doesn't get hurt again. Rodri is likely to get suspended again. Haaland has this mystery injury with no certain return date. Their defence is a mess. Plenty of chinks in their armour.

Well City and Liverpool have a history of winning things, just look at the last 5 years. We don’t.

We have got a lot more to prove. Arteta is not Pep and he is not Klopp. Therefore, it’s more important for us and our trajectory that we don’t go too below what is acceptable for a title challenge.

You might be right in that sense. I keep thinking of a 90 point title race like last few seasons but what if its a 80 point title race? In that case we would have a decent chance still.

Clrnc all the predictions still show us in a tight group with Liverpool and City. There’s still a long way to go. We are absolutely killing it on the defensive end. If we can tweak offense, I think we make ourselves favourites

Claudius killing it on the defensive end was us in 1998, or Chelsea in 2005. We're conceding about a goal a game. Too many brain dead moments.

Feels crazy to write us off at this moment considering where we are in the table. Reinforcements will definitely improve our chances but I think we could do it with who we have even now.

Loads of player threads active right now. I can understand why the manager's isn't. Talented as he is, it is down to him ultimately. Think he needs to do better what the set of players he has, that he has done so well to assemble/ retain. We have some of best players in the League in their positions.

I also think it suits Arsenal if we are chasing rather than looking over our shoulder. It might be a part of the club's DNA. We have more often than not failed whilst being early leaders and won titles while having the freedom to apply pressure all the way through.

Yeah. Some aspects of poor form you can’t do much about, like with Trossard forgetting how to control a ball or Jesus missing a sitter. But Martinelli looks like he’s dying for a bit of help and guidance right now. There’s some very simple things he could be doing to mitigate the confidence crisis.

goon Jesus missing a sitter is exactly the thing you can do something about, in the sense that it shouldn't come as a surprise and should be taken into consideration when recruiting other players. He's the most consistent underachiever when comparing xG to goals I've seen. Like a reverse Haaland in that respect (granted he's much better than Haaland at other things).
