I think we finally found his role.

He can be our Giroud, plan B striker coming off the bench. It removes the pressure from starting the game when he looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Plus as we all know and we have enough evidence for it, he is largely anonymous and ineffective playing as a number 8.

Some of his touches were exquisite when dealing with difficult long balls.

He is very comfortable playing with his back to goal. He made a name for himself at Leverkusen facing goal.

Needs to readjust to doing to other bit again, and with confidence.

It was a nice poke of the ball to Martinelli but let's not get over excited. If we are starting Havertz at CF regularly we're in trouble.

Super sub is his role currently till he fully gains more confidence. Basically he gets the Vieira treatment last year

Qwiss agreed. And I don't think we bought him primarily to play up front. The versatility will be part of what attracted Arteta but you have to think he's expected to play in midfield more often than up front.

The bar is so low that even an average performance is praised.

He is better up front than in midfield. He is also a decent alternative to Nketiah, but that is because Nketiah is also an average player. Not because Havertz is very good.

As for comparing Havertz to Giroud, that is just ridiculous. Havertz is one of the worst finishers in the league.

Gives us a great option against high pressing sides. We don't have anyone who can hold up the long ball like that in out front three.

Our players may have tried long balls to him too often and may have disrupted our play. Think Arteta wanted more control and more football to be played in the middle where the game would be won or loss.

Havertz was good to throw on at the end as an alternative option but his style at number 9 may have not suited what we were trying to achieve against this particular side.

Still baffled by this signing, the most disappointing part is what we could have done with the funds instead. What a absolute waste of resources he has been and almost everyone saw it coming too but somehow the club didn't. So, so frustrating.

We are getting that that stage for me around the 15 game mark where I feel it's fair to look at what he's produced and firm up the assessment. To me he looks exactly like the player we saw at Chelsea and never in a million years worth 65m and 300k wages. That's a really bad use of money by Arteta and Edu and undermines the idea that they do really know what they are doing with recruitment because nothing we've seen from Havertz was not there from how he played for Chelsea so why go for him.

pound for pound the worst signing of the arteta/edu regime. theyve pissed away alot of money in the middle of the park on impulsive out of the blue punts. lokonga, vieira and now havertz.
