I saw a clip of Sancho doing two roulettes to beat 4 defenders in Germany and thought there's no way he pulls that off in England. Havertz's technique didn't look clean in Germany, actually reminding me of Pepe's and it's likely it's just been shown up in England.
There were a lot of midfielders that were bought this summer by the top 6. We somehow managed to buy both the best and worst midfielder of the bunch.
Given how much of a guarantee Rice was going to be as a signing, it felt like Havertz was a gamble we could afford to take especially with Partey staying. I think a cursory look would have you believe that he was misused as a striker and a return to midfield would bring the best out him.
Unfortunately, that was just Dunning Kruger at play. Obviously, the managers in charge of him realised he was much better upfront and played him there for a reason. If you look at his numbers at Chelsea, he almost never scored from midfield.
