Just hope Arteta doesn’t feel he is obliged to play Kai every time just because he cost £65m and it’s his reputation on the line.

Arteta can be stubborn like that - remember Willian? Yes, he may have not cost the same amount of money we paid for Kai or anywhere near it but Arteta kept playing him to prove a point he was a good signing until it got to the point of no return.

He’s filled out quite a bit. Proper unit now. Will be one of our less consistent performers but he brings something the squad needs

He's a hard worker and physically pretty strong, but not sure what his role in the team is going to be - other than a squad player than can be plugged in here and there when others are injured.

Might end up being that but right now I think Arteta has very specific things in mind for him and that he'll be starting most games for us.

I felt he played a pretty key role in the first half. Faded in the second but definitely encouraging signs there.

Which is probably progress for us against City, we seem to find creating chances incredibly difficult against them

Agree with Arteta. Havertz helped provide a lot of structure and was a great target man today. He’s great at receiving and triggering the press from long Ramsdale balls. A bit unfortunate not to score but neither chance was a gimme. The combination of him and Martinelli should be our default against pressing teams while Jesus is out.

He has the technique. Just needs to take that extra microsecond to understand that he is in charge when it comes to finishing situations in the box. They'll work on it. He'll get better.

Is it just me or does Havertz always seem to be on his own any time we see photos or videos of the players as a group?

I sometimes wonder if there are a couple lads in the squad who don't fit in entirely. Feels like we've two big blocs in our team culturally who probably find it fairly easy to relate with each other, the Portuguese speakers and the English (first language) lads plus northern Europeans. Havertz being German I guess should fit into that fairly easily and he hasn't been here for long to form relationships, but it's something I worry a little about. Same goes for Kiwior. They both look a bit outsidery to me.

Pepe LeFrits he must have a decent relationship with Jorginho too, I think Arteta would have definitely spoken with Jorgi about Havertz before getting him in.

I've seen Havertz with Nelson a lot in the training/pre-season vids they show. I think they get on quite well.

I wouldn't worry too much, they are all different personalities, always going to be a few who are more reserved.

Kiwior received a lot of support from Gabriel when they were on the pitch together I remember. Not sure how close he is with any of the members of the team though.
