The whole discussion around whether Havertz was bought as a midfielder or a striker misunderstands how Arteta buys and uses players. He’s not looking for traditional positional specialists. He’s looking for players who can excel in areas of the field. In Havertz, he wanted someone who had great off the ball movement, would arrive into the box, and could use his size up help us escape presses.
