Some rumour that Timber's base salary could be 90kpw then going further up. He's 22, with about 3 seasons of senior football in the Eredivisie. Seems a bit high but I admittingly don't know what his reputation calls for.

Read redcafe for their views on Timber since they wanted him so badly. Most of them thinks he's super, absolutely worth more than 50m.

A lot of them feel they should rival us for him and he will replace Ben White in the starting lineup. Very natural in technical ability, good in positioning and passing.

I’m watching Ajax since ‘92 but I never saw a young defender like him before. From day one he was fantastic. Almost no mistakes. Like he got the experience of a 30 year old. Always stays cool. He’s got self confidence but absolutely not arrogant. Smart too. Stayed and renewed his contract at Ajax with United begging him to sign. Timber is one of the most stable defenders ever seen at Ajax.

Bear in mind that most of those comments are from ish a year ago, since he had a much better 21/22 than 22/23.

However, a young kid having a down season in a year where Ajax as a team have been off the pace doesn't worry me.

I'm wondering - is this guy more of a third CB like Tomi/White, or is he more of an inverted CM type like Zinc, or is he more of a wide fullback like Tierney? What kind of player is he?

From what I've been able to see through touch comps, he's more Ben White than anyone else in our squad. Although, I would say he looks quicker, more agile, and better technically, but not as strong or dominant in duels.

I was thinking he was an alternative signing to Caicedo as a tucked-in fullback playing in the 2nd line (aka the midfield - so more Zinchenko than White), but having watched him more, I think he'll play in the 1st/defensive line alongside Saliba and Gabriel, ala White.

I think Lavia (or maybe a sneaky late move for Caicedo?) is the option for the rigth-sided Zinchenko option.
