Yeah. I could understand the whole "what if" game if the title came down to something like the Brentford situation of not drawing the lines last year or the Liverpool vs Tottenham offside thing this year. However, it seems as if people are just saying "If the team was simply better at football then we would have had a better chance of winning the league". Which, duh. I don't understand what anyone is supposed to take from that.

Ultimately don't leave yourself relying on other teams. That's never a situation you want to get to be in. 5 matches against Fulham Villa and West Ham we just dropped too many points. You can always get some variance but I don't think it's out of reach for us to do better in a couple of those fixtures even still allowing for a couple going against you.

That's the bar and the challenge wt have now. Are we up to it or are we going to go down the we can never beat them it's not fair. I want to beat them even if it's on their terms and it feels the dice are loaded, all the better when we do.

goon that's a fair perspective but i also think it applies no point getting upset or angry when teams lose to City either when that is a likely outcome especially at this point in the season they just seem to get into focus mode.

QuincyAbeyie well yes other teams play a part in the race but in the run in you really want to be in control. We had it in our own hands 7 games to go and we blew it. Once that happens your fucked, doesn't matter how good you are you are hoping somebody else does something for you and that's rarely going to go for you with a team like City in the run in I would suggest.

Sure, you give yourself as good a chance as you can by winning as many points as you can. But as Liverpool showed, you can have sensational 90+ seasons and still miss out (twice). So the idea that you can’t depend on your rivals drop points away to a team in 5th doesn’t compute to me.

We are on track for 89 points, our highest in 20 years, record number of wins and a record goal difference. We gave ourselves a decent chance, forced City to win their last 10 games or whatever. I think I read we’re going to be the 4th best runners up if we do beat Everton and still miss out. While there’s room for improvement, the lads had a great season and it feels wrong to focus on the details that went wrong.

Just got back from the match, I feel sick!!

goon Spot on, last season there was a big disappointment but it felt like we had played out of our skin and fallen short. This time it feels like we deserve to be right up there and when you look at the age of our team we are only going to get better. Make some smart signings in the summer and I see no reason we can't come back even better.

I’m sad guys. And pissed off.

Never wanted to win the title as much as I do now.

goon I've no problem recognising we've done well this year. Looking forwards to how do we add those points that might carry us to where we want to get isn't disregarding that but is trying to find the way that next year we don't have to see someone else pick up the trophy

Your point about Liverpool is fair and it would be very gutting to put in a high 90 point finish and not win the league. But that's why you want to try and get a couple of seasons in at that level and that should give you something.

We kind of know 90+ points has to be the target and you can't afford the Fulham and Villa type scenarios you probably need a win from one of those or draw the games you are below par. That's not revising this year it's saying at cannot afford those results come next year
