Yeah. The main problem is Saliba is injured. Playing or not playing Holding won't change that.

I would be tempted to play a back 3 with a lower defensive line to accommodate Holding and neutralise Haaland to an extent. Maybe play White, Holding and Gabriel at the back. The question is how you arrange the rest of the team, especially someone like Ode.

I'd go with this:

White - Holding - Gabriel

Odegaard - Partey - Xhaka - Trossard

Saka - Jesus - Martinelli

Compact but with lots of attacking threat. Someone get this to Mikel.

goon I think Mikel's a bit like Pep and Wenger in that he'll want us to play our way, no matter what. I love the idea of us parking the bus and picking them off on the counter but it won't happen. Hopefully, he makes a few effective adjustments that allow us to compete.

I am frightened. This can get really ugly.

Defense is the weak link, they will score so the only way to manage a win or even a draw is by going for the kill. Classic line of 4 but close to Ramsdale so Holding's weaknesses doesnt result in us receiving 5 goals. Do u think about what could Haaland do with space against Holding? It is nightmare stuff.

If the planets align I feel we can get a 2-2, which would be a fantastic result.

I would like to control City’s back line but still have Zinchenko’s ball control. He can drop back and give Tierney the wing.

Claudius not to bad shout. In theory I think Xhaka offers quite a bit this season for big type games. However, I also sense Man City know how to push his buttons, get him off balance, catch him out of position and get him in card trouble without much difficulty. I am just about in favor of still starting him. Also it's a shame Zinchenko hasn't been tried once in that position to be familiar enough for contingency deployment.

Not sure about this. It will be important for us to at least have the option to play out from Man City pressure and having both Holding and Tierney in the back line makes it almost impossible.

White, Partey, Xhaka and Zinchenko will be key. Those four need to be able to bypass and withstand City's attempts to press and help us get the ball up the pitch.

I'm not happy that Holding is gonna be starting instead of Saliba, but that's what we've got. I'm definitely happier playing Holding ahead m of Kiwior's current level. Guy might come good but he is not ready t9 be thrown in at this level having barely played since he's been here.
