I like your reasoning overall, but one issue with this is that Tierney has been sus defensively for a few matches, he hasn't been rock solid 1-on-1 at all. Zinchenko has been equally poor or poorer, but it's a problem either way.
I think training a back three would be more likely to give us defensive emphasis, numbers and solidity.
However nothing is going to absolutely set City back beyond lightning strikes of good luck and having our own credible threats. They face committed and compact defences every week without failing.
I would like to see Trossard in for Jesus for this match, if not from the start then from half time. I think Jesus is gonna have emotional issues here and lose confidence unless he scores early. Martinelli and Saka I trust not to be fussed or overawed from the kickoff.
