flobaba have to admit the Jorginho signing is looking worse and worse each passing week. First couple of games it looked like good business but then he had a poor game or two and disappeared completely. Seems like he's another player Arteta doesn't trust. We have to stop buying players that he doesn't really want because it only hurts us in the long run. I could certainly see Jorginho being gone either sold or on loan at the start of next season. He was never cut out for high intensity football.

Qwiss I was sceptical about this signing but when it was presented as a short term solution to help us in the coming half season I could see that. But as you said Arteta's use of him doesn't appear to fit that idea so then the question is what's the point. Arteta has a big problem with using the squad and people have said he just needs better players but even when he has decent options he still seemed to misuse them a la Trossard. It's like my 11 is always this and I will never think of deviating away unless an injury forces it. But you can't expect to maintain that over seasons where you are going for multiple competitions.

Qwiss Arteta really like Jorginho. I think many have pointed out evidence of that from the past till now.

Of course he is 2nd choice to Caicedo but doesn't mean he didn't want him

I think Jorginho was only really ever coming in to cover for a potential Partey injury, at least that's how I looked at it. In fairness, it worked for that purpose. I didn't ever really look at him as a realistic prospect to challenge Partey or play as an 8.

Clrnc but he's hardly been used. Rarely gets off the bench even. I think Arteta thought he liked Jorginho until he had him, then maybe he realised his short comings more.

Qwiss Yeah but it's okay—Jorginho was basically a last ditch effort to get a player more useful and with a better attitude than Lokonga to shadow Partey, if Partey got injured as he often has.

And he's not ideal, but he was signed because a fairly optimistic approach for Caicedo failed, and he's probably still more useful round the traps than Lokonga. Who wouldn't get a minute at the moment that's certain.

Burnwinter don't think Lokongas attitude was the problem. Just not really aware enough for the role. He'd be more secure in Xhakas place than Vieira. I think the loans been the right move though, h s done well and should move on this summer.

I wonder if the table would look different if we succeeded in our Caicedo pursuit. Could potentially be one of our biggest 'the one who got away' simply based on the outcome of this season.

QuincyAbeyie Absolutely think it would. You could chalk at least one of the draws just gone up as a win I reckon. Margins and definitely a very big sliding doors moment. I will say this though, we didn't fuck around we bid £70m for the guy.

Burnwinter Yeah. I can't fault the club because they thought all the money was going to Mudryk. If they fucked it up, it was that failed pursuit.

Following that they probably have little time to think of how to spend so much cash and on who till they decided on Caicedo but little too late

Qwiss Lokonga was decent, just very quiet and unadventurous, but a bit less ineffectual than Vieira has been, totally different kind of player though and I'm not sure the comparison's fair to either. Would be good if we can sell Lokonga on for what we got or at least most of it.

Burnwinter probably would have got our money back if Vieira had stayed on at Palace. Roy doesn't seem to fancy him though. Interesting to see if anyone else rates him, he's been good when played.

gonna need to beef up the squad substantially to make sure arteta doesn't melt down next march/April if we make it out of the CL group stages

Gazza M was thinking even if we have a beef up squad his mentality is always not to switch things. Trossard, Tierney etc is completely capable and he doesn't even try even against Soton. Early on when Tomi was in great form in Oct he never rotates as well and instead even chose him at LB to cover Zinny. He's just someone that doesn't change things

One more meltdown next business end and there is ZERO excuse in the world for him. ZERO.

Clrnc he does have some soutgate tendencies to cleave to his favourites. so just buy him more favourites, is my guess. he is what he is and will probably do more weird shit, so the hope is we just boost the quality to make sure he doesn't have too many tough decisions to make

after 2 years of this, it's actually going to be quite hard for me to enjoy next season (i enjoyed this one up until it stopped being that at anfield). it will always be in the back of my mind that all of this is pointless because we're going to shit the bed in the spring anyway.

Expectations next season : top 4 and a trophy.

Gazza M I think the favourites thing is a massive hindrance and he needs to grow out of it quick. He talked about loyalty to the players that got him to this point but you have to be able to say to any player is that aren't in good form or the right fit you change for what the game needs.
