I think anything from 15-20 goals is fine for someone who doesn't take penalties. Jesus would have been on track for around 15 if not for the injury.

He might not score so many goals (though I did predict he'd be our top scorer back in Jan...) but he's got plenty to improve on as far as chance creation, influence and consistency goes. Gut feeling watching him this year has always left me feeling like he's got a lot more room to grow despite already being one of our best performers.

goon Minimum 15 league goals and with that he'd need to be racking up assists and pressing like a demon the way he was at the start of the season. I'm not sure Jesus was "on track" so much as he was in one of his purple patches. Seen it at City enough where he'd have a short run and then go missing. He was already on a 7 games goalless run before the WC, though his overall game was still there. After the injury his overall game was gone and he didn't score enough. 15 plus goals would be Jesus best ever season too, nothing this season is out of the ordinary for him, he played his usual number of minutes, scored a usual amount of goals and undershot his xg as usual. We can hope he has a great season and all this changes next season but there is little to no evidence for it. Add in CL and I think we will struggle if we only have him and Eddie up front.

I like Jesus, I'd happily keep him in the squad, he's versatile and can cover the whole front line. I just wish we had a marquee striker too. Someone you can rely to get goals instead of crying every-time one of our 21 year old wingers doesn't net.

Qwiss Agree Qwiss, when we signed him the question was always could he score enough. His stats at city were pretty telling and I think you're correct in that he probably was on to perform how we've seen before. He brings a lot to our game but not enough quality in terms of what I think you need from a striker. But that isn't a surprise, we kind of knew that already.

At City he was only playing sub 2000 mins because he was squad player though, not through injury. There's no reason he couldn't play more. Also not sure when this goal scoring purple patch was? He scored 5 before the WC and 5 after. 15 goals estimate is based on him continuing to undershoot his xG.

That's not to say I wouldn't upgrade on him if someone obviously better comes along and I would definitely like a better understudy in the ideal world. But in the end of the day players who score much more than that are quite rare.

Players who score more than Jesus are not rare at the top end of football at all. There were 3 at Arsenal this season.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 I’ve got to agree. He is experimenting and over complicating things, arguably to satisfy his his own desires. He hasn’t earned the right to do so, for mine.

Plenty of season left but the signs aren’t great so far.

We're just trying to find our groove and work things out. It will come together and we will be better for it, but it's very painful dropping points in the meanwhile.

I think we're trying to change too much at once. Rice is finding his feet in this set up and he's so key that's a big enough change. We've added Havertz to the midfield too, a player who at best is low on confidence and hasn't nailed a position down. Then we're working on some weird defensive experiment too. It's an awful lot all at once. This isn't preseason, these are league games, we can't afford to have growing pains.

Qwiss Actually, blooding Havertz as an 8 would have been fine if we had our usual back 4. The back 4 and inverted right left centre back crap + Havertz is too much

Although you'd have to say the system tinkering was most responsible for the two dropped points, I'm gonna give Arteta a pass for the way he's responded here for the time being.

He's got to stay positive about his leadership, and it's true we dominated Fulham without reward. Arteta hasn't fully grasped how the mood will turn if we've lost touch with City before Christmas.

Be interesting to see what player movements happen, if any, prior to 11pm Friday.

I have no issue with his press statements. Its all very Pep "so so happy" stuff. Its bullshit, its a front, we all know its a front, he knows its a front, its how you deal with the press and thats fine. You can't be showing any cracks or they'll milk it and start Arsenal in crisis bullshit.
