RocktheCasbah no that would be great and if we demonstrate something that I don't fully believe we could do then it'll be an amazing outcome. Of course I don't mean we could never get a result I just think with the team we have, the quality they have and the psychological advantage they've had with us and away from home I think the outcome is weighted more to them. I think 8/10 they probably win so in that context for me I don't go in expecting that we will get a result.

Not to dissimilar to the home match, I thought we could get something but deep down suspected it would go there way somehow. Now we may prove that sense wrong one day but a bit like at Anfield today we have to land it and buck the trend

RocktheCasbah if anything, people saying we're going to gut Liverpool, "what are you guys afraid of" etc. and then after the match saying it's a good point at one of the toughest grounds in the league sounds like more of a coping strategy for me.

My point before the game was that I believed we were good enough to win there and for the majority of the first half, we were more than good enough.

Liverpool hammered us in the second half, helped by Arteta being so passive from the bench. All things considered, I don't really know how you could look at the game and come away from it thinking it wasn't a good point.

Both positions can still be true.

RocktheCasbah sure, it's a good point in the sense that we were terrible and statistically shouldn't have walked away with anything from this performance, but if this is a game we should've won against a bad team we shouldn't have to fear then getting a point isn't good.

QuincyAbeyie my point, very simply, is throwing in the towel off the back of this game is premature. That's all I'm saying really. Winning would have been huge, but not losing it can also be big for us.

Also, Liverpool's record is second only to us and City at home, so it demonstrably is one of the toughest grounds in the league to go to.

Mirth this is a balanced view I can agree with.
Teams are typically unable to score 2 goals in a half, which is the mountain we had given Liverpool to climb.

But I would not expect that second half performance from anyone in the league except Liverpool or City against a relatively full strength Arsenal. Klopp had rested his players and they went really hard.

I’m still not sold on Xhaka as villain. This isn’t like last season when Arteta went crazy on the sidelines and the crowd reacted. Man just stood up for himself. He didn’t raise his hands or anything after being kicked multiple times by Konate and accosted by Trent.

After that, we should have employed even more shit housery to slow down the game and remove momentum, the way Newcastle did against us. We did a bit but not enough given how loud those fans were. I’m jealous of @Clrnc for experiencing that atmosphere.

We tried but the ref was horrible. I have never seen a yellow card given for jogging to take a corner kick. Ridiculous.

Anfield was great, but if you need proper atmosphere with choreographed chants gonna go to Celtic Park. Was on a different level. Our away fans shat on the home fans mostly today. Wish this site was friendly for video uploading to show

We were 2-0 up, he should have laughed at him and had a word with the ref. What he did wasn't sticking up for himself, this isn't Sunday League, what he did was lose his head and drag the rest of our players into it too. The Anfield crowd is only a little bit of it tbh, IMO the incident made us drop our focus and thats why we were caught out right after it. He should also realise his own reputation, he's gone head to head with an England player there and I wouldn't have been shocked if he'd been sent off given those dynamics.

At the end of the day there is really no defence of his antics and I do believe it cost us that first goal. However they got to half time still ahead and should have done a better job of seeing the game out. In the second half he's only responsible for his own poor performance.

So the ref did the right thing with the yellow for Saka. But they never seem to do anything when this shit happens to us. When Newcastle were being unsportsmanlike, nothing happened. When teams spent the first half of the season doing rotational fouling on Saka. Referees never gave one opposition player a yellow card to earn the lot of them. So red was right to card him, but we rarely get this benefit

It’s not specifically in the rules but referees should do it more often to stop teams killing the game. We had so many games where we thought we deserved about ten minutes of injury time because opponents were being unsportsmanlike. And a yellow or two would put that to an end

I also feel that we wont get any single point at Etihad. In order to win the league we need City to make some mistakes. I still think we have some material odds of winning it.
