I’m actually looking forward to seeing what he can do, feels like a new chapter for him. The more Hale End kids we can cram into the side the better. Hopefully he gets a start on Sunday.

Mixed feelings about this.

On the one hand, it's nice to hold on to another Hale End kid, we save money on bringing someone else in and we hope we see more of what we did this season.

On the other hand, I can't help but feel the club are duping him a little bit (eg. Nketiah was in a similar situation last summer and ended up only being used when Jesus was injured) plus the fact that no one knows whether he can sustain or even improve upon what he showed this year with more responsibility (theoretically) next season.

Just hope he isn't signed on to be AMNed, would rather he left in that case. But if he'll be used then he's a great option to have.

Definitely not bad for us whatever way you look at it. It's a risk for him, but as has been mentioned, I think he's a kid that's happy to be here.

As for Arteta, I do think he's already shown signs he trusts him. Has brought him on in quite a few big moments, usually ahead of ESR, Vieira, Eddie etc.

I guess the next step is whether or not he trusts him to actually start games but that's an issue for everyone on that bench.

Don't worry mate I was right there with you. He did/does have all the talent in the world, he's technically brilliant and actually quite a clever player too.

I still think his ceiling is quite high, the issue has always been whether or not he can tailor all that talent to play serious football.

Unless Arteta has had a massive change of heart on Reiss this seems like bad business for all concerned. Actually for Arsenal it might be ok if they can flog him for a profit next summer I suppose.

I'm happy if it's true, as we have a lot of other areas in the squad we need to strengthen already this summer. If it's not working out for him we can move him on in January or summer 24.

We should have more games to offer our squad next season too. The lack of games for them was of course partially our fault, but drawing our two bogey teams so early in the domestic cups was unfortunate and unusual.

Nothing but good news here. We get time to assess Nelson in case he does break out, we get to protect his value and we have a solid option to rotate across the cup games at the very least

I think his biggest problem will be getting Mikel to move away from thinking that not playing Martinelli or Saka is voluntarily hamstringing himself. This deal probably makes sense for the club right now, as I've outlined before, I'm less convinced that it makes sense for Reiss himself.

I wonder if Reiss feels he's improving as a player in this environment. Clearly one of the biggest things Arteta does is improve players. Maybe he wants to keep training under him and reach his potential that way. He's been on a lot of loans, maybe he recognises good coaching when he sees it.

Qwiss Wasn't that one of the big criticisms of Arteta before, that he didn't improve players other than youngsters you'd expect to improve regardless of coaching?

Trust is a strange thing with Arteta. Nelson is clearly in favour over others as he's the one that been brought on at critical moments, and he's seized that chance well. But it doesn't seem to extend far enough to having a realistic chance of a start.

I'd like to see him given a chance with Odegaard and Trossard behind Jesus. I reckon those three could be sublime together. I'm not advocating they move ahead of Saka and Martinelli, but going back to Kel's point about quickness of play and overloads in the other thread, I reckon with the right chemistry Odegaard/Trossard/Nelson could play some sexy football.

So happy about this. Really hope he's not going to be Eddie or AMN'd as others have alluded to.

This contract is less about Arteta or Edu than Nelson himself, I think. Retaining Nelson as a second string forward when he's being courted by other serious clubs is a financial no-brainer.

What's good about this is it seems Nelson's staying on out of loyalty to Arsenal and a personal ambition to succeed at Arsenal—two things a lot of young players who've gone through it like him wouldn't have.

I really like the situation as he has everything to prove but he'll know he has to. He's entering his prime, there are some hints his attitude is more serious, and he may well find another level.

Qwiss it's right for us but I'm not convinced it's right for Reiss' long-term career. If you're 23 and looking to push on in your career, you should be looking to play more often. Eddie basically only played when Jesus was injured.

Don Pacifico yeah I think he should be somewhere he'll start but it's his decision. If he gets the minutes Eddie has had this season I think that's about all he can expect. Unless he goes out and takes Martinellis spot. Maybe he thinks he can.
