This Ben Jacobs guy is a fraud so I wouldn't pay much attention to anything he's saying. Plus it's not clear if he's suggesting Brighton want £70m+ or if Chelsea are looking to offer £70m +.

I'd be surprised if he went for anything less than £80m.

lorddulaarsenal Valverde has been on my wishlist for the last two years. He'd be absolutely incredible in this side and I think his versatility would suit Arteta perfectly. Most of all, he brings incredible ball striking ability and athleticism to the team that would open things up tremendously in my opinion. I really hope we are able to get one of the Madrid midfielders if they need to shift one for Mbappe. All three bring different things to the table but are world class and we've got the versatility in the squad to accomodate any of Tchoumani, Camavinga or Valverde.

Agree. I think the reason that there have been rumors about Tchouaméni is that he is the one they are most likely to sell at the moment. (I'm not sure whether that means that Madrid have been making inquiries, that his agent is looking for a way out, or just that rumor-mongers think that way.)

Clrnc Makes sense. I wouldn't ever want to sell him if he was on my team. Camavinga similarly is just as versatile. As @RowJimmy mentioned above, it makes sense why Tchouameni is the name we are seeing the most. I would love him here as well- moreso than Caicedo and I like Caicedo a lot. A Tchouameni/Rice midfield would be absolutely monstrous.

Least likely Camavinga in my opinion. He's the only nailed on starter since he can play both in midfield and has taken the LB spot off of Mendy.

If we can't get any of the three then just spend the Partey+Balogun money on Caicedo and be done with it.

I think he makes a lot more sense as a right winger (which every journalist has lately been tipped off that we're going after) than as an attacking midfielder which was the context in which his name was first brought up this summer. I don't totally understand what we're doing with our attack though. Making the safe assumption that we're selling Balogun, we'd still have 11 legit first-team players for our front 5 and only 4 of them (Jesus, Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli) do I have total 100% confidence in. We're looking at having a shitload of guys "on the bubble", so to speak. We really need to pick out some winners and losers here.

Would have to offload both Balogun and presumably Nketiah, with Trossard operating as the Jesus alternative. I'd be happy enough with that.

Don’t think we’ll move for a striker this summer. Not sure there’s anyone ideal out there.

For the rest of the window let’s ship out the deadwood - Pepe, Lokonga, Tavares and get in Kudus to give cover/competition for Saka and Odegaard.

The left side of the attack is set with Martinelli, Nelson, Trossard, Havertz and Smith Rowe.

Blimey we’re starting to get some serious depth.

Feels like we definitely need another top quality addition to the attack. It all becomes very laboured and disjointed as soon as guys like Nketiah, Vieira and Smith Rowe are involved.

I can sense quite a few movements out this week.

Hopefully Cedric, Tavares, Lokonga and Pepe find a way out the club. Then I would be open to Holding, Elneny and Jorginho departing. With Timber around we have enough cover for Rice and Partey.

I think Smith Rowe can become an important player in this team. Not much to go on, but I think there has been some very positive signs this summer. He looks quick and sharp.
