Our average pass networks between last season and this season at similar stages of the campaign*. Compared to last season, single pivot pronounced, centre forward much more involved, supply to best player still compromised, fullbacks are tucked in even more, LW still isolated.

Man City's pass network model from last season is beautiful.

As mentioned in the other thread, I don't like who is seeing most of the ball, especially when the Saka Ødegaard nexus is heavily marked.

I didn't watch Chelsea that often but a lot of people said he was a sideway pass merchant, he made loads of forward passes against Villa. I thought he had a very good performance, moved the ball quickly and well.

We were one Partey injury away from going from Title challengers to fighting for Top 4 imo. I think his addition will at the minimum cement our Top 4 but allow us to push and try for the Title.

Liked what he added to our game against Villa, given a fair bit was also lost. Shows Partey's replaceable without a like for like switch—we just need to adapt tactically.

Burnwinter I believe that Caicedo kid is/was the intended Partey replacement. He's primarily a ball winner isn't he? I would say that's pretty much like for like. It's not so easy to play that lone pivot role without strong defensive instincts, tackling/ball retrieval ability and physical capacity.

Think we've had 66%+ possession in every game we've played with him.

My main concern with him is his lack of pace. He can't cover the fullbacks like Partey can and we looked a little exposed today once or twice as a result; maybe some tweaks to our play are required there. He's fantastic for helping to control games though. Interesting to see Partey playing the more advanced role when he came on alongside him today.

The amount of running Partey had to do in that role gave me anxiety. Amazed he didn’t pull a dozen muscles.
