Pepe LeFrits Our ball retention is well up with him on prev games, though it's hard to compare as we've been chasing games with him in the side, unlike the previous couple of games.

Think we've had 66%+ possession in every game we've played with him.

My main concern with him is his lack of pace. He can't cover the fullbacks like Partey can and we looked a little exposed today once or twice as a result; maybe some tweaks to our play are required there. He's fantastic for helping to control games though. Interesting to see Partey playing the more advanced role when he came on alongside him today.

The amount of running Partey had to do in that role gave me anxiety. Amazed he didn’t pull a dozen muscles.

A few years ago I think Klaus wanted this guy. And I said no. We were busy buying guys like Pepe and Auba and I thought we would be a counter team with a hardworking midfield of runners. Turns out we have become a this high possession pressing team, and now Jorginho is perfect. He served Saka another pass from the gods today.

I have always felt that the January window is not the time for big moves. I really like the moves we made in the end. They are veterans who will help a young team across the finish line.

When the summer comes we will have significantly more degrees of freedom and be able to do big signings.

it was a good game for him. we controlled the game to an insane degree, which is when he thrives, and he was a big part of why we controlled the midfield. he did swing and miss on a few attempts to try and hedge in the high press and got bypassed badly, but that's something we'll have to live with. he'll be a key player in the Europa League for us

That pass to Saka was absolutely ace, and it’s a shame it didn’t become an easy shot on goal.

The fact that both Partey and Jesus are injured and it’s not a crisis is massive.

Think back to the end of last season when a few injuries stymied our chase for 4th. We were depending on players who were not up to it. Now we have Jorginho and Trossard in. With Vieira and ESR also coming along. I’m really impressed with what Edu has done with this squad.

Claudius That is the thing, if Partey was out for another couple of games you wouldn't be bothered. A few months ago and you were praying he didn't miss a few games because it could derail our season. Also allows us to rotate them because we know Partey will always pick up little niggles.

Gurgen I'd agree with that, getting someone who is more mobile and has a great passing range could really take our game up a level.

I thought he was a very good short term option. Turns out I underplayed that somewhat.

He's great, his only problem is that he's incredibly slow. Partey's physique is far superior but his footballing game is inferior.

JazzG Hope we get Zubimendi. The reliable quick pass from deep is really invaluable.

Gurgen He looks like the stand out player in that position. 24 years old so the right age bracket and definitely has the quality and physicality needed for us.

Available for around £52m which is considerably less than what other top class CMs will move for in the window. So hopefully we are doing the groundworks for the deal and get it sorted ASAP.
