I'm not sure how the numbers work but I think they need to offload players by the end of this month in order to be FFP compliant. I'm guessing that would mean they'd look to make signings in July.

Lavia looks a better player to me. Certainly has a better command of the ball

If we pay £100m for Rice then Brighton should absolutely be asking the same for Caicedo.

They are all at most worth 50-60m. Just stupid inflation currently in English league and only English league.

Premiums for high profile targets have gone through the roof. Buying players for their ‘fair value’ is almost out of the question.

Ironically the exception seems to be when buying from other big clubs.

Cancelo would be a better signing for the squad’s needs

goon Yeah agree. In fact, I think 50-60m for Havertz is much more of a fair value than 100m+ for either of those DMs.

Also probably why Pool is going for Kone and Thuram, both priced very very fairly and big upside

Havertz has been terrible in the PL for 3 seasons, his value shouldn't be anywhere above what we paid for Trossard who is a better player in more or less the same positions.

You can’t compare the two. Havertz is considerably younger and a proven CL player. Trossard wanted to actively leave which lowered his value as well.

Qwiss yep agree, if we were in a "normal market" he'd been in the 20-25m bracket because he's just not performed for 3 years

Not comparable to Trossard, Trossard had fallen out with the coach, had 1.5 years on his contract left and was 28 years old when we signed him.

Havertz has just turned 24 and has 2 years to run. He also has a much higher ceiling. Our competition for signing Trossard was Spurs, R.Madrid & Bayern have shown interest in Havertz.....

It doesn't sound like he wants to be at Chelsea so there is a similar background of a player who wants out and a club willing to move him on.

Caicedo would be stupid to go to Chelsea but he does sound like someone who has money as his first priority (perhaps understandably due to his background) so I think that's where he will end up.
