QuincyAbeyie depends on the player though. Caicedo had a few "days off" in January when we were interested, I think if they had an agreement and they went back on it he'd really kick up. Especially in the face of a massive offer like £70-£80m.

Sure, I notice it tends to be that way, and if thats going to happen in this case, it'll be an intriguing contrast between the seeming sincerity of the player, with that of club business culture.

He'd be very useful next season as DM, CM or right back cover. Very versatile and smart player. Good way to phase out Partey too and then install Caicedo as the starting DM.

I'm not sold on either Caicedo or Zubimendi (for different reasons). I think Caicedo lacks any elite attributes to his game whatsoever. Zubimendi, on the other hand, has elite distribution, but I don't think has the physicality required for the role in this team. I'd rather have a more physical, less technically gifted midfielder, but someone who has the defensive nous to be able to solidify the team and let Saka and Martinelli attack more freely.

Don't think the floor needs to be raised to block his progress. Multiple loans now where he seems to fall out of favour very quickly, hasn't made the Wigan squad since Jan.

I think it was Klaus who called it quite early with him, but I also always thought he seemed to lack the intensity to really impress. Seemed like he was content with just being very good technically.

Keep seeing that Zubimendi isn't physical, but he wins a lot of headers, covers a huge amount of ground, and isn't shy in the tackle at all. Not sure if it's based on watching him or just Spanish midfielder prejudice.

Coombs -- true, and Flob shared a great article highlighting that (below). But, I do have concerns about judging a player's aerial ability and tackling when they come out of La Liga. That said, we don't ask Partey to be a great header, though certainly, he is a great tackler against a wide array of players.

Clrnc said more or less the same last week. He's been saying Mitoma and Ferguson need to stay for their development.

Seems Caicedo got a release clause when he signed that contract. I reckons n that was just a stay till the end of the season and we'll pay you right sort of deal to stop him forcing a move.

Qwiss Makes sense also makes Brighton look strong going forward if they can't be bullied into selling their players when they don't want.

It has worked out well for Brighton because the Europa League will probably bring them a nice income as well.

QuincyAbeyie feels like 80% of the job done for me. These two guys would make us extremely robust. Would then want a right back to help protect us against another Saliba injury.

I think you could pencil us in to score about 70 PL goals next season if the plan is to replace Xhaka with someone even less useful in the attacking third. Would be an absolutely fucking horrendous idea. Thankfully, I don't think that is the idea.

Claudius i think if we sign two midfielders and Caicedo is one of them, then it's probably kept in mind that he can play RB as well. I'm also assuming in this scenario that we keep Partey.

I really think we need to price in that we outperformed by probably something like 15 goals this season. StatsBomb has us running hot to the tune of about 25 goals this season:

so 15 includes the idea that our players are genuinely good at finishing. Meanwhile defensively, I think we're basically fine. I think our youthful players just need to make fewer individual errors which should be reasonably priced in. In some counterfactual world where we run it back next season with the exact same team, I would expect us to score a lot fewer goals and concede a few fewer goals. We'll need some bring improvements offensively just to stay in the same place.
