Elneny suddenly becoming unreliable is hurting us, as we'd have drawn at the Etihad and possibly saved defeat at OT, if it was him and not Lokonga.

Caicedo is the new limited DM flavour of the month.

He'll be a decent back up and but doesn't look anywhere near as talented or as skilful as Partey, which is ultimately what his successor will need to look like.

Having said that, he's better than Lokonga and Elneny is out injured, so he'll have to do.

daredevil not for 60 million , no way. Brighton will pick up a 3 or 4 mil player and give him the same job as Caicedo and won't miss a beat. Let someone else give thme free money.

🤨 not sure what you guys are smoking...I'm a huge Partey fan, but this guy has a higher ceiling in my opinion. He's fucking excellent. Have you watched him at all? He's superb on and off the ball, tackles confidently and decisively, physical, massive leap, always driving forward, turns on a dime, relentless in the press, reads the game well (pops out of nowhere with interceptions), can beat his man, and strikes the ball so cleanly. On top of it all, he's got a well-timed through ball to release flying forwards.

There's good reason he's so highly rated.

Coombs not to mention, Caicedo was already very highly rated before he came to Brighton. He was known as the wonderkid in Ecuador.

Funny how United missed out on him, they virtually was closing the deal when Brighton intercepted. They have missed Alvarez, Martinelli, Caicedo and Haaland too

also Independiente del Valle have a 20% sell-on clause so this is potentially a big payday for them and while brighton has a great relationship with IDV, if they fuck around and he goes for less this summer with more midfield options on the market unless they make them whole (20% of what arsenal were willing to pay in january) that relationship will be damaged because a club like that can't dismiss 2-3m. on the other hand if he goes for more in the summer then IDV will love them even more.

Clrnc my good man, I cannot emphasise enough how DeZerbi helped me get through the darkest days of Emery. Watching Sassuolo and Atalanta closely taught me a lot about effective and attractive football. Emery was a pox.

£70m is fine - there’s plenty of factors that probably make him a bit more expensive than if we signed him in the summer but none of it matters if we win the league.

As long as we don’t set a new club record, it’s fine.

I don't really care about overspending by £10m if he fits the long term plan. But the question isn't can we get better value in 6 months, it's can we get a better player.

I'm not all that clued up on what's out there, but I don't think we'll be able to do much better. We may as well go for it and give us what we need for this season.

Worth remembering he'll not only help the league campaign, but it'll also hopefully enable us to progress in the EL too and get us a long overdue European trophy.
