Big Willie This actually it shows how special Saka is considering he was playing LB until that Chelsea game where he and ESR saved Arteta around Christmas 2020. So effectively just under 5 years ago. Average of about 20G/A per season in that time in the PL. That's insane.

Weird to agree/defend Sicario but Cesc being in a list of forwards shows how good he was, it's fair comment and I know everyone hates him now but it shouldn't be that hard to admit.

In 07/08 he was playing CM in a 442, paired with Flamini, and he got 35 goals/assists in 3900 minutes. That is insane.

Saka's numbers are fantastic as well.

Cesc’s the most talented young midfielder I’ve seen. It’s still so rare to find that blend of talent and maturity - but looking at his G+A is a disservice. Some of his performances were in the CL run of 2006 where he absolutely dominated the best teams in the world but didn’t get too many goals or assists. His game actually got worse once he started being asked to be more of a final third player - in a perfect world we would have brought in a goal scoring number 10 and let him play deeper.

Mirth -- him playing as a 10 helped his fitness though. He was running on fumes by the time that started to happen, and you could tell his stamina/conditioning/body was being challenged.

Still remember that game when he came off the bench vs Aston Villa to score 2 and seal the game.

Came on, scored two, then subbed off again when the job was done. For me it's a good picture of how much we relied in him at the time.

I've seen a lot of people with insight into the club suggest that Berta had a huge mess to sort out this summer, both in terms of transfers and contract extensions. Man did we get his appointment right.

Like Mirth I don't think the main issue is the medical staff though; I think it's the maniac who overplays everyone to their breaking point. We've seen this pattern continue this season, even though we have had perfectly able backups for the first time in ages.

Heinze came in because Cuesta left. Berta probably had something to do with it but Arteta is mates with Heinze from their PSG days.

He doesn't have backups he trusts. When we have backups he can trust we'll see more rotation.

That certainly seems to be the issue. We never give the key players a break and Arteta seems to overplay massively. The lack of subs at Sunderland an example of run them into the ground before they go away.

I don't think it's that - he plays his best players when they're available and then leans on his backups when they're out/injured.

I don't think he's particularly interested in rotation.
