James I don’t quite understand the statement though that what defenders are doing to him isn’t all that bad.

Yeah I agree this is the key point because it focuses on the tactics that teams and players are using to try and limit his influence. And from this we then have the flow on problems of a) not enough of these actions being recognised and called as fouls by the officials, and b) not enough of the fouls that are called being given as yellow cards

    I’m going to sound partisan
But Saka has outplayed Rashford since the World Cup. All Rashford does is score. Nothing else beyond that. Is it’s great for him that he has a hot boot. In Saka we have a force of nature who has managers sending every defensive player on the squad to give him a rotational foul because he can hurt you so many ways. He has incredible relationships with White and Odegaard, and then can just do it himself as well

You might be partisan Claude, but you're still right

      Daz

Yup, the issue isn't him being fouled, it's that referees are not dealing with it properly. Doesn't really need a big adjustment to rectify, they just need to be more willing to show a yellow earlier.

I reckon part of the issue is that Saka doesn't have an obvious burst. He uses his body and close control to beat and roll his man which means referees may think the ball was there to be won or just see a tangle of legs when actually he's been kicked on his heel or ankle.

Claudius I seen a thing on twitter the other day with Saka, Vinicius, Dembele and Rashford and it said "who do you pick" and I thought how the hell are Rashford and Dembele in this conversation?

Qwiss Tbh Dembele has been having a pretty great period of form and fitness last time I took a look at him.

@Big Willie Last season he had the most assists in La Liga despite playing about half the minutes of the other players from the top 5.

Rashford and Vini doesn't even play on the right.

As RW goes in the world Saka is the best.

For LW there competition is massive though.

Brilliant news! What a player ❤️ I hope he gets better and better. On his way to becoming the next Mr Arsenal 😍

Release clause of 200 mili please. Congrats to him and his family. Incredible start to this his career and can't wait to seem him get better and better.

KingslandBarge nah, that's not enough. No release clause needed. If we're to have one it needs to be high enough that there is no price we'd be forced to sell against our will.

Do we have release clauses over here?

Delighted to see my Greenford bro' has agreed his deal, I don't think it was ever in any doubt but it's a strong signal that the good times are coming back to N5.

Like I've said many times before, having no release clause is the same of having a release clause for £ ∞.

Wanting a release clause when there usually isn't one is irrational. It can only be an advantage for the buying club.

Amazing news if true but what does "agreed but may take some time to complete" mean? Something (the wage) isn't actually agreed yet?

invisibleman18 I'd say it probably means all that stuff's agreed and it's assumed that it'll be signed, but it's a long, complex contract that's being carefully vetted by lots of lawyers, who will want to look at the detail of how each agreed provision has been set up.

Hope he's practicing that di Maria curler. Well capable.

Burnwinter yeah that's my interpretation too. Basically lawyers on both sides want to take ages to pull it apart and go backwards and forwards so they can make a bunch more money for themselves.

I'm probably missing someone, but ... when was the last time Arsenal had a couple of players of Saka and Martinelli's calibre, both already playing at a very high level and only just entering their prime, sign long term contracts?

No offence to the "British core", but these kids are on a new level.

To me, Saka has the stature of Cesc when he was engineering his move to Barcelona. He's conservatively worth £80m or so. Any club in Europe would want him. But unlike Cesc, Saka's Hale End: all Arsenal DNA. Saka's mentality and quality are in the very top echelon. It's a landmark if he commits to Arsenal.
