Clrnc He missed the assist from the Community shield. He is on 15 goals and 13 assists this season.

Clrnc If he stays fit no reason he can't be doing 40+ G/A this season, would be unreal numbers

Respect to that kid who tried to get Saka to join Charlton 😆

Nice to see Freddie still around, wonder what he is up to these days?

    He's levels above Foden.

It's such a juvenile comparison from Rio. I wonder what he was thinking. I like Saka's no comment reaction. Just let your football and history prove him a dumb idiot.

Yeah, find it really surprising that after he left Arteta's team he didn't end up getting a management job somewhere as think he showed a lot of promise with limited support when he was caretaker.

But if this means he's back involved in the academy, I'm sure it's only to our benefit.

Saka is great but I’m going to judge him very harshly v how he does v Porto in the 2nd leg.

If you’re genuinely going to be WC level these are the games that you have to show your worth especially as our talisman.

I can’t wait for Porto game as it will reveal a lot about us from manager to player.

You should judge him based on everything you see. WC players have off days just like everyone else. That's why even though only one team wins the CL, other teams can still have WC players.

This is prob the highest profile game he would have played outside a ‘title race’. Def most high profile European game. This is where players reputations are made, not by scoring a brace v Burnley.

If you want to be WC you must show up in these games.

It’s good to have standards and make yourself accountable or otherwise you can just coast through life and achieve little

Ok, so he shows up in this game and he's WC if he doesn't then he's not. Let's assume that premise holds.

After that, if we go through the first leg of the next round is then the biggest game he'll have played in, in which case he will have to prove once again whether he's WC or not.

Each subsequent CL game will be the same, where he can only prove he's WC until the next game where he'll then have to prove it again and again. Until he actually wins it and cements his WC status permanently, or he gets knocked out.

Look, Saka may or may not be WC, but he's a damn great player and one of the best in Europe. One game here or there doesn't decide that outside of those silly WPOTY awards and the like. The people who claim this are the same ones that used to argue that Thierry isn't WC because he never scored in a Final like everything he did before that point counted for nothing.

To be honest, even if you subscribe to the idea that moments and specific games play a part in being defined as World Class, I’m not sure a home game against Porto in the last 16 quite meets that criteria.

It’s also not the moments of failure that anyone remembers for the most part, it’s the successes. And he has his whole career to build those iconic moments.

In the meantime, being consistently great will do me.

Yes, that’s the definition of world class - consistent brilliance over a sustained period in elite competitions/games.

Of course if he has one off game after producing for 4/5 games in a row it’s not the end of the world. Thierry Henry never scored in a final for example and doesn’t take anything away from his achievements.

However, it seems ppl are scared to put their beloved players against high standards in case they fail.

World class is a term that is very specific to me and only the top 1 percent of players should be achieving it.

Bottom line is in order for Saka to be WC he needs to deliver in CL, that’s non-negotiable.

Last 16 is very important for us, maybe not for others but for us it is as we haven’t been in the last 8 for 14 years. It’s also 90 percent of our players first CL KO game so it’s now that they are truly judged.

We wanted to fight tooth and nail to get into the premier/elite European competition and now we are fearful judging our players in this context? We should be proud and let them showcase on the biggest stage. If they perform consistently I’ll be the the first to call them WC.
