We've won only 2 of the last 9 encounters against Palace, none of those wins being at home. Palace apparently haven't won a league game in 2023. Meanwhile we're back to strong starts out the gate and absolutely purring in possession. Jealous of those with tickets for next weekend, the stakes are high.

I thought going to Selhurst Park was an ideal test to start the season (KingslandBarge); this one at home is going to be huge to leave the table in pretty state for the break.

Yeah, I fear it's not going to be as easy as some here seem to think against Palace. Hope I'm wrong and we batter them like we did Fulham though.

Law of averages says it's bound to happen...the longer the drought the more likely it comes to an end.

As we've already discovered this season, the are no easy games but if we turn up with the mentality that we did today, we should win against Palace (and most teams outside the top 6).

Don Pacifico Pretty sure that's not from the law of averages. 😆 A flipped coin isn't likely to land on tails four times in a row, but a coin that's already flipped three times in a row isn't less likely to do so a fourth time.

Or, well, it's from the law of averages, just not the one that's actually correct.

QuincyAbeyie You're definitely technically correct when it comes to the "law of averages". On the other hand we know Palace are going to be even more desperate to perform better given recent results.

Adjusted for history, this must be one of the best seasons of football Arsenal has ever played in the league. If we take the title and become the youngest squad ever to do it, it looks like it'd be another pretty durable record.

Burnwinter True. I guess that begs the question - why are we worried of facing teams in good form, if it's bad form that is worrying? Or does any kind of form, good or bad, mean an increased likelyhood of playing well against us? 😃

I was just doing some maths, based on Arteta & Guardiola's points per game historically and this season. I won't bore you all with the specifics, but whichever way you look at it, it looks like it's going to be too close to call (no shit, Sherlock!) That game in Manchester towards the end of next month is going to be the biggest game we'll have played since the Champions League semi final that we've all erased from our memories.

Had a quick hash at predicting the remainder of the season and we lost out by a couple of points. Getting at least a draw at the Etihad is going to be really important I reckon.

psychologically I hope we we win that extra game we have in between now and when we go to their place.

In all likelihood, City's game away at Brighton(which, as a game in hand, is as hard as it can get outside the top 4) will get postponed if either of them win their FA Cup QFs. So by the time we get to Manchester we'd have had the chance to put more points on the board and potentially increase our lead with our games against Palace and Soton at home. Avoid defeat there and at least match all of City's remaining results week on week.

Hope they get Madrid or Bayern in the CL.
