I see how this works though. Whatever Arteta is doing at any point with the selection, one must simply apply the proper facts and logic to arrive at a position of confident support for it.

Arteta's a smart manager, but when I see him changing his selections for a position where he's got several options, I imagine it's necessary experimentation rather than a series of infallible papal declarations.

Anyway, I think I'm still team Trossard super sub, facts and logic aren't everything.

daredevil because I don't think there is conclusive evidence any of the ways, which is why it's weird to talk about "ignoring facts". It's possible have an opinion without there being overwhelming evidence one of the ways.

Agreed. Trossard and Havertz are incredible together. On paper it sounds uninspiring but they both work hard for each other, move around a lot and drag defenders out of position, find each other, and work hard. It’s a joy to watch.

Tbh I thought this was a generally accepted thing and that period last season between Jan and Feb when we had to play that Trossard in midfield behind Havertz at striker showed that.

I really thought jesus and havertz would be a good 1-2 punch, with jesus being a creative foil for kais movements into the box. turned out to be tross instead

Gazza M I think can be the case but Jesus is so physically off our game right now that’s not possible. He’s a guy who definitely needs the carling cup and games against Shakhtar in Europe.

Gazza M It did look good for a few games last season. I think when we went on that scoring run in the beginning of the year, they a few goals where they worked well together. But Jesus needs to slow down now, take a moment, it's not working for him and it looks like he is rushing everything, trying way to hard and it just makes it worse.

Although that might actually be harsh towards Pepe who more often then not had end product when he played.

Burnwinter I think this speaks to how we underrate players from other teams/overrate the relative level of our own players when not seeing the average levels of other players.

First of all, I feel like this clip posted during this international break implies that he scored the goal now, but it's actually an old clip from a past Belgoum match. I don't think Trossard has improved since coming to Arsenal, yet we're all happy with his performances - but very few of us wishlisted him from Brighton.

I think similar cases are Ramsdale, who was called the future England number one and a world class GK when we signed him, and then just good enough for a team sure to go down when we sold him a couple of seasons later. The same is happening to White, who was called the best RB in the league by many on here and then Timber has a few good matches there and suddenly White is a bench player.
