Dom if he plays in false 9 for us pace is less of an issue - look at Merino. Hes still a deadly finisher and that’s the main thing.

Sicario2 he collapsed our attack tonight though. Not all on him because, Sterling, but he comes so deep, he allowed Palace to come up the pitch and squeeze us. He's picked up from mid season form, but if we got a decent bid this summer, sell sell sell!

Thought Trossard looked good. Linked up well. Ion coming deep, that’s how both he and Merino are playing the role, with the wingers having licenses to go central.

Makes sense. If we get a high quality starting LW, Martinelli will likely generate greater value and Tross is perfectly serviceable backup for multiple positions. If not, Tross on a longer term contract should generate better value than with 12 months remaining.

We don’t trust him to play CF despite needing better finishers.

We don’t trust him to start at LW because he doesn’t produce/hold the width Arteta wants.

If we are keeping Trossard, then maybe Martinelli is making way for the two new forwards. If they are better / higher upside than him, then I can work with that.

Claudius oh I can absolutely see the logic. He's going to make Arsenal a lot more money than selling Leo would, will be sad to see him go - but not as sad as I was about ESR going.

RocktheCasbah in hindsight selling ESR was the absolute right thing to do. He played ok this year for Fulham but nothing special. I just think he lacks general oomph. Kind of guy who is happy with being a 7/10 player and that’s it. We need and demand more at Arsenal.

Yes I agree but the trouble is I don't see Trossard offering us much even as a second choice LWF or third choice CF.

This means nothing for Martinelli imo. Leo covers 4 positions and is great backup. Sign another LW and let them all compete

I don't think we'd need to sell someone like Martinelli to finance summer business. Transfermarkt has our net spend last summer at €25m (notwithstanding various add-ons in the transfer fees). Our revenues are booming from finishing 2nd and getting to QF/SFs of Champions League, and that 22-23 net spend of €162m is coming off the books for PSR. I know our wage bill is higher, but we should be able to afford Zubi, Gyokeres/Sesko, a creative winger, a backup keeper, and a potential Kiwior replacement without selling someone like Martinelli, who despite his limitations is a very good presence in the squad.

If Trossard is gonna be a 7th choice forward, a super sub used here and there, then great.
