Qwiss I think we have far less degrees of freedom than Wenger. Adrian Clarke was saying this on the Handbrake Off podcast this week. He said the idea that a team like West Ham could have midfielders of the quality of Paqueta and Kudus is completely mind blowing to him, and means that you have less flexibility to field your scrubs or have an off day. He says in his day, a game against West Ham meant you were going up against decidedly inferior players. Now you could get embarrassed. So we do have to appreciate the changes that have come with the concentration of wealth in this league.
Claudius I think thats definitely true, the leagues money attracts top talent and its why its the top league now. That said fuck the League Cup, just blood youth in that. Anyone who does well in it should get an FA cup run too.
Qwiss if the whole squad is healthy, we should start Jesus, Jorginho, Zinchenko, Kiwior, Trossard, Nelson, Timber, Tomiyasu, Nwaneri in the league cup. And then we can toss in a few starters. Of course, Tomi will be sick.
Claudius agree with that but we need to get Nelson out. He sticks out in the list of back ups as having done nothing but also having little potential left. He's the sort of player we shouldn't have.
Qwiss he’s our Phil Neville.
Fraser Four Stars 😂
I’ve seen people recently say they envy how Spurs attacks. I want no part of anything that Spurs is doing. They’re agents of chaos
Give me Spurs next round. Their manager is terrible
Amad is a good player
Why is Luis Suarez playing in goal for uNited?
Arsenal vs Newcastle. Really can't ask for a better draw this year for Carabao
Clrnc first game at home, need a good win as that is a hard place to go. And you know they will rest players in the league and go all in for this cup, it's all they have. Not that we have a lot going on either. Spurs or Liverpool in final ?
Clrnc I think Spurs are easier to beat for us.
HomeSteak looking at how Arteta reacted on the touchline and how serious the lineup is we probably also know this is the most realistic trophy this season
The semis being two games is still a joke.
A massive chance to be in a final and this team needs to win something soon so should be in our focus when it comes round to it.
awooga83 don't agree there. This is still a minor trophy. I'd put about the same effort into the final for the league cup as I would the 3rd round of the FA cup.
The semi finalists tell you everything you need to know. This is a very serious competition. We should try to win.
Claudius it always matters. You see how even Pep celebrated when he won it tells you everything.
Which is why I always disagree with people who wants to intentionally lose cup competitions
I don’t know about intentionally losing but I’m not going to pretend this competition will provide anything but a bit of mid season relief.
It’s still a nothing competition for me, maybe it’s different for the younger lot, but I remember a time when you’d literally take the piss out of friends when their team won a game in the competition.
No Carlos Vela, no important.
League cup peaked here:
Mirth It really did. Was at that game. Took my little brother and a couple of his friends to that. One was even a United fan but ended up jealous we had Vela. Good times.
awooga83 I remember both Mourinho and Pep saying winning the league cup helped them in the league run in, as it grew the players appetite for silverware. I don't blame Wenger or Arteta for overlooking it in previous years as we did not have the squad to for it, but now we do. I would be ok with either the Fa cup or the league cup and a top 3 finish.
Mirth I feel old watching this, Wilshere scoring at 16. Wenger never won it, but he sure made watching the league cup fun. And Vela really fucked it up, he had so much talent
