It's easy to dismiss and mock Spurs for winning, but I've sympathy with Sicario's view.
It speaks to what Keown was saying, and a few in here commented about in response, about winning mentality. Postecoglou also referenced it in his post-match comments, about it being one thing to tell players what success is like, but it being completely different to them winning and experiencing it for themselves. They've gone and done it.
I wouldn't swap our season, but fact remains is they'll arguably take more from this season, even with their ridiculous league campaign, than we will. That should be motivation for them going forwards that spurs (no pun intended) them on to better things - relatively of course, I don't think they'll be troubling the top teams, especially if they keep Postecoglou. But it should breed a hunger to improve. It'll ultimately result in glorious failure when they're out of their depth against good teams in a superior competition, and Postecoglou continues to manage like a 13 year old on Football Manager.
On the other hand, here we are hoping that Arteta has enough unseen lightbulbs and unheard stories about chatting people up to push us on to a league title. That's tongue in cheek - I'm optimistic about what this manager and club can do, but I'm also quite worried that Arteta's is too dogmatic, and similar to Wenger in that he is unable to vary his approach to tip us over the line. Every season without a trophy, even an FA Cup, makes that more difficult.
