Approaching it more pragmatically, I think United winning will have the biggest negative effect in the medium-to-long term. They will get Champions League and a chance to rebuild properly in the summer. Amorim knows what needs to be done at that club and I'd rather they didn't back him, because he will get it right. Their situation is identical to Sporting when he took over there, and he turned their entire squad within four windows: he sold the lazy expensive underperformers, promoted youth, replaced slow footballers with athletic ones, and found bargains in the market.
He has already fucked off Rashford and Anthony which I thought was ballsy given how utterly lacking of ability their squad already is, and I bet Garnacho and Casemiro will follow them soon. But that's only if he gets to stay and rebuild. If they sack him I bet United will take these losers right back and continue to watch them drain the club all the way to relegation next year. I think my heart would explode with joy if that happened. The schadenfreude would nurture me for years.
