And in answer to your question, I care very little who wins the Europa League. Two joke teams in a second tier competition - Man U won it not too long ago and they're even more of a joke now!

I mean, we can sit at home saying "it doesn't count" and "we're better" than that trophy we couldn't win when we were in it as much as we want, but they both sit in their 2nd European finals in the last 6 years. I wonder who is actually happier today.

Sure, but do you really think we'd have won a 2 leg semi final and gone onto win it given our European (and recent knockout) history? I just find it unnecessary arrogance to say that a European trophy is not legitimate or doesn't count as if we're dripping in them ourselves. I'm sure the fans of the winner will end this season happier than us.

For the record, I obviously wouldn't swap places with them right now either. If in say 7-10 years time we still haven't won anything, then whether I'd prefer to have won say a couple of cups and a Europa in that time or come 2nd a few times and lose a few semi finals is a different question.

EL is not what it was. We have two of the worst sides in a final. They played useless teams in the semis too. It's second tier at best. Even the prize money is abysmal. We made over 100 million. The winners of EL get 20? That tells you something.

I don't give a shit who wins it. Who gives a fuck. Their seasons was a disaster.

I'm with @invisibleman18 wouldn't go as far as saying they will be happier than us because their respective seasons are genuinely atrocious, no putting varnish on that. But the arrogance to joke about the Europa when we could never win it and our overall dreadful record in Europe is something I'll never understand. It's a real trophy with proper history unlike the Conference shit.

Also if the unthinkable happens because my hometown club decided to shit the bed in Europe for the first time in years against fucking Spurs of all fucking teams I might commit online seppuku.

There's no doubt that having more teams in the A tournament and having none of that group drop into the B tournament will generally decrease the quality of teams. Where there have been weak years before, the weak years now will be even weaker.

And sure, it's a disgrace that we went out against those teams, but that's only a reflection of us when we was in the tournament, so if anything you could try to claim that United by winning the EL is having a better season than we were in those specific years - not better than ours in a season we're considered too good to participate.

QuincyAbeyie yes fewer teams to come down from the CL will naturally mean less quality, but that wasn't my point. I had a look and the only teams to win the whole thing after starting in the CL are Sevilla who somehow always end up in the tourney winning it, Atletico and Chelsea in 2013 - three teams since the EL rebranded in 2009.

It's a major European trophy is my point really. Your last point about "in a season we're considered too good to participate" hits the nail on the head, most Arsenal fans always felt that way about the tournament regardless of season yet we always crashed out against one team or another.
