        Very good passing between the lines, always looks forward. Great under pressure, good range of passing and one touch. Even though rusty and lacks match fitness on his first start you can see the immense potential there especially his interception and tackling.

            Weird why we opted not to buy him. At that price there didn't seem to be too much risk. Especially in hindsight when we're now desperately scrambling for any decent midfielder and they all cost 60-100m.

                    I mean that's not a terrible idea if he's thinking about his long-term career. Look what's happened with Sambi - whilst there may be some questions over his potential, difficult to argue that he's not really been given a shot.

                    I'm pretty convinced the thing influencing our thinking about midfield, the reason we're being linked with Rice and threatening to drop £60m on Caicedo, is that we want a signing that upgrades and bolsters a very solid, functional trio.

                    That trio looks far better than they did last summer when we were tracking Danilo. At that point Xhaka was being extended instead of sold against half of our wishes, Partey's legal troubles were more ominous, Ødegaard's form less supreme, and a return to Champions League football wasn't guaranteed.

                    In summer we needed cover. Now we still need cover but the cover will never play a serious match unless he's world class or someone's injured.

                        Burnwinter It's ok, all bets are off and make sense now that we are moving for Caicedo. We wanted someone guaranteed to be good and have money to burn 🙂

                          The ambition we show these days is still pretty surprising isn't it! Can't complain.

                          Casemiro is utter class man. A good CM can add so much to your game. 70m for him is really a bargain all things considered.
